Had to replace the tank selector valve last/this weekend. What a pain in the arse! The old one was leaking and dripping THROUGH the 6-port wiring harness connection

Now both tanks, sending units, and all rubber fuel lines along with the selector valve are brand spanking new.

Wonder what the next item to break will be!

Then I took the dog and each of my sons for rides thru the neighborhood. My older boy said “I can’t wait to drive this thing!”!

My state has the same system, but our year by year plates ended in 75 or 76.

But we also have antique plates for 40 years or older vehicles, that's a one time like $20 dollar charge and you get a permanent plate with no tags and you don't have to renew it. There's also no restrictions, like mileage or use restrictions. Also transferable plates.

I got a matching set of basically new 48 plates for my 48 gmc. Got em from an old timer, had em on his shop wall, pretty cool.

All of the ND 48 plates have that weird smear look going on, I looked at quite a few of em. A shame, but kind of cool at the same time.

Sounds very similar to what I found out about MO. I can use a tag dated the same year as the truck, and it'll be permanent.
There's something about a 1000 miles per year limit, but mileage to a show, etc., doesn't count.
I believe I'll print off the legal paperwork and keep it in the glovebox in case I get pulled over by an officer that isn't savvy.

Replaced the wheel cylinders and the rear hard brake lines on the K10. The braking issue is fixed now.

Hit a buzzard doing 45-50mph Sunday on my way up to the shop, shattered the hell out of the windshield. Thankfully it hit dead center and didn't get the grille/hood or roof/cab and thankfully the GF wasn't with me cuz all the glass landed in the pass seat.

The local mom and pop auto parts store, the owner had this store, one up where my parents live, and two where he lives over near the coast. Got a call last week from the store manager, all three stores are closing. The owner had already sold the store up where my parents live, maybe 2 years ago. Anyhow, the manager told me to come in soon if I wanted to get stuff. I had gone in on Thursday and planned to go back Friday, but had to work late so I was going to go in as soon as they opened on Saturday. Well, I slept a little longer than I should have and was leaving the house about 08:10 instead of 07:30.

Wanting to get out quickly, and also to give the 81 some love, I decided to leave in the 81. I had driven it the day before, so I knew it would fire right up. Yep, it did not disappoint. Fired right up, and knowing it is cold blooded now with the vortec heads on it, I let it warm up some, put it in gear and went to go get some more stuff at a discount price.

The truck did its spitting and sputtering as I rolled into the street, and feathering the throttle didn't keep it running. Normally when this happens it's a tap of the key and it fires up again. Not this time. DEAD! Nothing, when the key was turned to start. It had power, just no crank. Fiddled with everything I could think of, still nothing. I wasn't going to work on it in the middle of the road, so I moved all the cars around, grabbed the tow strap, and yanked the 81 back onto the driveway.

And wouldn't you know it, it cranked as soon as I got it back on the driveway. Not wanting to get stranded I left it home. After getting my goodies, I went back to the truck, and it fired up again and again without issue.

I am going to replace the ignition switch since it's original equipment. Going to get Standard brand. I was going to try and adjust the switch, but with it being old and needing more twist of the key to get it to crank, I figured a new switch would be good idea.

@DoubleDingo is the 81 a tilt column or not?

My 76 (tilt column) finally broke the pivot on the rack, it had been half broken for a couple years, I’d have to tilt the column down to get it to start, then it finally gave up completely.

If you remove the switch you can use a small Allen key or screwdriver to operate the switch hanging from under the dash. That is how I’ve been starting the 76 as I have not felt like dealing with it yet.

It's a tilt column. For a while I had the steering wheel tilted up, and it was harder to turn the key. I don't have a big belly, so I tilted it back to normal position and it's been like that for maybe 8 or 9 years. I do need to go into the column and inspect, clean, and lube some components, as it's apparent some stuff is not operating like it should. i.e.: the wheel lock doesn't lock when it's cold; turning the key off, you have to make sure it turns to "Lock" or the key won't come out. Funny thing, is I never turned the key to lock for years, I thought it was going into that position, but about a year ago I started having problems getting the key to come out. I noticed the notch wasn't lining up with the "Lock" marker on the column, so I turned it a little more, and I could feel it go into Lock, and the key came out easily.

@legopnuematic Speaking of half-broken rack, I had that happen on my Jeep one day at work. Heard this horrendous crackling sound inside the column when I turned off the engine and removed the key. Had to walk home, and then gathered up tools and parts and worked on it in the parking lot and got it back working again. Then it got sloppy, and I had to tear all apart again to go deeper and tighten the bolts. Since I had to go deeper in, I greased things a little better. I've known I needed to do this with the 81, just haven't tore into it because everything works except for be a little sticky when cold. When I go in, I may give the bolts a snugging-up even though the wheel isn't sloppy.
