Got it unpacked. She's a beut! New and shinny. That winter last long but hey looks great now. And super pleased with the carb. Bit high but imo worth it. This is the second one I have bought from them. The other one is a level 2 for engine with intake, cam and hedders.

My vacation starts this weekend and then till the 2nd next year. I'll get it on in that time if not before. Getting off work at 330 instead of 5 because work has slowed like every year about this time. But next year when y'all know who comes back we'll be busy as hell again. Can't wait!!

Came with that hard rubber gasket. I've never used that.has anyone else? I got the spread bore adapter with gaskets so I just use that.

Anyone want the old 1407 edelbrock carb? Pay shipping and it's yours. Let me know.

Yeah, that thick gasket is the same one that came off my rig when I just removed my Qjet. It seems like a quality gasket. I'd use it if you can. :)

New carb looks fantastic BTW.

Working on getting the doors to function and fit correctly, ordered new latches, a hot wire kit for the windows, new pig tails for the switches along with a bunch of new miscellaneous small items to make it go back together right. The truth is if your door strikers are worn out, so are your latches. Also bought new power lock actuators and window regulator assemblies with new motors. I only want to do this once.

I'm getting close to my project being back on the road. Tag acquired. I have 90% of the interior back in it and the exterior is complete. hopefully this weekend I can take it to town and get a tank full of gas and start using it some. Plan is to drive it to my uncle's house for our family Christmas gathering. He likes these old trucks and we figure he'll get a kick out of one back on the road and fixed up.

Just curious, if is this a completely all brand new carburetor, why do they need a core back?

Because they sell rebuilt ones too for about 75 bucks less. They also sell holley and edelbrock carbs too incase anyone wondered. Great carb company.

After getting oil level back up to correct levels I was driving it to work for about three days. It was driving great! I parked it for about 3 days and then took it on a short trip to drop my daughter at a Girl Scouts meeting. It was sputtering uphill. Looked at all possible reasons even though to me it feels like the fuel isn't making it to the engine, so my first thoughts were lines gone rusty, or pump in the tank that is working is headed out...could be the filter, the spark-plugs, maybe moisture in the air filter housing, throttle body might need a clean.? Anyhuuse, I got some Seafoam and poured in the suggested oz. per gallon so half a can for 8 gallons in the tank and the truck ran great for that drive. Next ride was just a short one again(2 days ago) to get dog food and it was good until on the way home it sputtered once. Today I cranked it up to take another test ride and it sputtered several times and almost cut out on me several times. When Idle it seems fine but when taking off if you don't go super slow it started to cut in and out of getting fuel, so then straight back to the house and didn't leave the neighborhood. Poured a bit more Seafoam in just taking a shot in the dark and cranked it again. Noticeable sound difference in idle and shaking quite a bit more when put in gear>reverse>drive>park. It's parked now and I don't know if I could even make it to the garage I take it to about 2 miles away. Weighing next steps. Trying to get my nephew to come help diagnose but he is busy with with a lifter went and valve slapping around in his truck.

I’ve had 2 minor things to address. 1 fixed. 1 in limbo.
(1) I’ve had an annoying issue with my horn for a while. Sometimes, when turning the wheel to the right hard, the horn would sound. I finally got fed up with it one night & pulled the center cap on the steering wheel to disconnect the wire running to it. Seems the problem was that the tower on the turn signal cam that holds the spring-loaded doohickey that connects the wire to the horn contact was broken & allowed whatever to ground out occasionally. Yo’Reillys had one. It was a quick fix. Now my line of communicating with other deserving drivers is complete. I would verbally shout what I thought about their driving skills, but it seems like they couldn’t hear me over the truck.

(2) My stand-alone shift light that I’ve had forever decided to take a dump Monday. Leaving the therapist, I turned the key on & the light should’ve flashed, which is normal. Instead, it came on & would not go off. The housing got super-hot but made it home without a meltdown. No signs of a wire shorting out. Pulled it off the dash & threw it in the trash. Tina thought we should get another one but I really don’t need it…I thought. It’s been in place for so long, now there’s a void next to the tach. Odds are I will replace it.

I hope the latches work better than the ones I purchased from LMC, I ended up installing the original latches back in. The LMC latches had small spring in them that almost fallout immediately.

Replaced the old dim rusty headlights with new Silverstars. I’m also having trouble with the passenger side turn signal/parking light. The turn signal works. Flashers work. But just having the light on doesn’t. I’ve changed the bulb too. Any idea what the problem is?
