Knocked down some rust spots on doors and painted with rust killer and the white paint. Ran out of paint, but, its protected for now. More paint on the way.

I feel ya- been working on the hood in my spare time. Ran out of paint, so I had to special order some more rattle cans (Vice Grip Garage style) from ColorRite in GM30 Nordic blue.

Appreciate y’all on here. I don’t post every day but I stop in to see what’s going on daily.

I got the clutch adjusted, so i should be able to take the truck for a spin once the ECU has been flashed. I tidied up some wires and got them in wire loom. Finally took a wire wheel to the rear axle to get the code. I knew the truck was high geared by how it drove but dang 2.56 is higher than I thought. I know I should do a tire to driveshaft revolutions check but this truck seems to be pretty much factory and by how it shifted with the 305 I don't think its been regeared. Definitely going to have to regear it in the future with limited slip/posi.

Man, that's a tall gear. My truck was a turd with the 2.73 and 305, my buddy's '87 was a 350/700R4/2.56 and it felt even worse lol. Hit up Quick Performance when you're ready, that's where I got all my stuff. The parts are great and customer service/sales was great to deal with

yeah this one is a manual, MY6\A833 I knew 4th gear (overdrive) had NO power. Now I see why. With the 305 I swear it was 40-45mph in first. Hit second till about 50 and hit third at 60-65. If you bumped it down into 4th you had do downshift with any incline whatsoever (and this is Florida so flat flat). With the LS I'm hoping it carries a little more power in 4th but I know I am going to have to regear at some point.

Im not sure what flavor yet, t56, tko, nv3500, that for when the 833 cant handle the toques anymore (that could be quickly or a while, its a guess) Pretty set on 3.73 or 3.55 for the rear gear in the future though. Truck will be a road cruiser so i don't need much, just want usable gears.

I'll go ahead and tell ya, don't fear the gear. LS's like to rev. I don't regret my 3.90s a bit. Another buddy of mine has 4.11s in his with a bone stock 6.0/4L60. We both put thousands of miles on them a year and don't regret the deeper gears

That’s who I’m going to go through. Their prices are reasonable and I’ve heard they are more than willing to help an average Joe for his first time doing new rear gears.

Well the 76 suffers from leaking gaskets so I started on that today. One good thing is this truck is fully rustproofed underneath :). So we did valve covers, replaced some cracked vacuum lines, added a tach, new trans mount and started the motor mounts. I didn't finish the motor mounts those things are a PITA!! Will finish them in next few days then start oil pan gasket/rear main seal.

Imho, LS has nothing to do with it. I don’t care what V8 it is, if overdrive is involved, don’t fear the gear!
