I tried that once a long time ago, it didn't work well for me and I don't know what I did wrong. Maybe it was some low grade pipe.
Likely, if I had to guess, I would say what you’ve said here or - you put too much heat into it all at one time

That’s slick!
gonna use a different type of button these are like suspender buttons and they don't sit flush on the fabric so i ordered a prong type button, similar to the prong on a envelope that will sit flush, much better looking I think

I repainted the grill and headlight bezels, and bolted down the emblem properly yesterday.
Today i installed my new/used hood latch cable. Works great. Also I realized it wasn't "popping" up like it should, and realized why, i fogot the hood pop spring. So now that works. Adjusted the hood so its straighter and level with the fenders, and put a stack of 2x4s under one side and layed on the other to get the tweak out of it. Lubed everything, and now its a perfectly straight and perfectly working hood, with no dents, yaay.... and terrible paint.

Also decided to try to attack cleaning up the wiring, which ended up leading to gutting the interior. Got all the bad wiring cleaned up, got the wiring and brackets for the radio and CB that the PO had and removed before me. Also removed the trailer brake assist box, braket, and associated rats nest.
Removed the badly smashed ashtray door. Removed the destroyed rubber mat and insulation, and cleaned the dirt and nasty out. Happy to find out that the floor and weather channels are solid as a rock and rust free.

I think tomorrow ill scrub the inside clean, clean windows, and ill probabaly paint the whole floor with some rubber bedliner stuff i have. Do away with the mat.
