I just read what @Grit dog wrote. I'd bet burbs are cheap everywhere right now with gas prices being what they are and they're old enough now soccer moms aren't going to drive them. Sounds like cheap 5.7s and full TBI setups for our old trucks.

Working on my truck in what seems like forever....now where the hell did i put everything....
Got wiring for tail lights all "loomed" and secured. woring on power window motor replacement in pass door. gotta be a contortionist to get in the door.
Amazing how comfortable a creeper is when you lay down on it after many trips up and down getting too;s/supplies....

today with it snowin like a bastard was rebuild the throttle body day!!tomorrow will be plowing and maybe install the new throttle cable and test the new pedal tension.

It appears the LS swap 5.3 is locked up. Got a line on a replacement (same year/model) for $650 w/145k miles complete with harness/ecm/pedal and all.

I will be installing a new oil pump and dumbell (oil galley plug) this time.

dunno yet. I'll take the top end loose. My worry is how to get the torque convertor off the flex plate with out being able to turn the engine. hell it could be the trans locked up for all I know (don't know if thats possible). Either way got a feeling it's gonna be a bitch that might involve some cutting of something....to add to the expense.

I guess worst case.....get the crank out and rotate it that way. lol look like a D|cked up 4l60e on viagra

Take the transmission out first let the convertor hang on the flex plate. N b d. Been there done that more than once.
so back it out and clock it with the output shaft while doing so? Hadn't thought of that.

I don't understand your question. Pull the transmission,let the converter hang on the flex plate.Pull the engine,then unbolt the converter.

thought they were grooved/slotted due to the constant turning and feeling for the 3rd clunk. So the sh|t will just pull out?

you and youtube got me straight. There is a key, but thats only one bump.....otherwise....its pushed straight on.

I thought it was a "double Z pattern key" and thats what caused all the bumps. I got this from trans shops saying turn it and push until it bumps.....then turn it until it bumps again....etc. That description told me it was a z pattern "lock".

Explains why every time I dealt with a trans install....I screw it up except this one lol.
