Today I sold my 77 C10 to a young man who lives 5 blocks away. He's been looking for a square body for awhile. Ive been wanting to sell it so I had more money for my 85. I must admit though as he and his Dad towed it away that I was feeling pretty sad. I owned it for nearly 20 years, and it's where I learned to work on my own automobiles. I hope I can love my 85 someday like I loved it.

I’m pretty sure you already do! You’ve done more to the new truck in the last month than I can imagine. Pretty sure she’s your new love.
Now the ex lives down the street…except you won’t get in trouble for stopping to see her!

Found these stainless OE sill plates online. Skipped painting the door jams and the truck bed to save money, these sill plates covered years of scuff marks pretty good.

I'm sorry to hear that. I know all to well that feeling. I hope your up for a short story. In late 90's I think 96 or so I bought a 1988 Oldsmobile Delta 88. The body and interior was super nice, and it was fully loaded including sunroof and climate control, but with cloth seats. It was blue with blue interior. And also it had a rod knock. It was a 3.8L front wheel drive car. So I installed a reman engine and the tranny promptly let go. At the time I knew someone that was in the rebuild business so I had him rebuild it. What I didn't know until I picked up the tranny was that he decided to install mild shift kit and he did some other things, which I have to dig up my old paperwork to remember. This was a nice car that would fly. At the time I was doing some work for band in California and drove that car down there 1/2 dozen or so times a year often sleeping in it in rest stops on the way down at night. I really bonded with this car and drove it A LOT, I left the band, the farm got bigger, and I bought the Dodge Dakota in 2002, it became my DD and my wife got the Olds, she treated it well and enjoyed it but she needed something bigger so in 05' we bought her a minivan. I didn't want to sell the Olds. I was bonded to it, so we kept it around. Unfortunately being seldom used and parked outside it deteriorated over the next few years. We kept it until 2013 or so, but by the time I sold it all the sitting really had gotten to it. Anyhow my point is you made the right choice letting your truck go to someone that continue to love it vs letting it sit and rot like I did with my Olds. I still miss that car, but I never should have let it just sit like that, it was such an awesome road car.

I picked this truck up in August and since then it’s had its frame patched, new headers, lowering springs, leafs out of the rear, new wheels, and a paint correction detail.

Still haven’t put it on the road, but it looks pretty in the driveway.

Finally got started on my big to-do list before headed to AZ next month. Pulled the driveshaft out to see what it's been hitting when I'm loaded more than usual, turns out it was the pigtail of one of the muffler hangars and just barely touching one of the crossmembers. Trimmed the pigtail off and beat the crossmember with a BFH. It only does it when I romp on it, so I should be ok now.

Painted the driveshaft while it was out since I never did it originally and it was getting pretty crusty looking.

Then started mocking up the NBS helper bag setup. I think this will work out well. The top bracket will come down to be even with the top of the frame, I'll need about 2 big fender washers per bolts on the one side closest the camera because the other side will be on the notch and then I'm going to elongate the hole in the upper bracket to bring the back out toward the tire some more. It'll still be more toward the inside of the spring but will be straight up and down at that point. Should be ok me thinks.

This kinda ties into the what new tools thread and this one. I bought this lil portable jump pack on sale for nearly half off at walmart. 1k amps so basically the same as the dead battery in my square.... i charged it up last night and gave it a try today on my COMPLETELY stone dead battery, i almost dropped a brown brick when it fired it right up with little effort! Im super shocked!!

Had to use this awesome little toy again today as the gfs car wouldnt start. Hooked it up and it popped it right off! After jumping my ol dinosaur and her car it was only on 86%, pretty sweet!!

Wheelskins has been making leather steering wheel covers since 1977. They take about an hour to install, but well worth it! I use to install them for work

I highly recommend evaporust! If you need some rust removed this stuff will take it off. It is "safe" on paint apparently, but the paint will definitely be affected after a couple days, and will almost completely flake off in a week. Now I'm not sure what kind of paint this was and wasn't worried about the paint. But all the surface rust is gone! Sorry no before and after, it was surface rust from us kid's feet riding in the middle wore the paint off.

Good stuff, got it more for special bolts and weird shaped smaller things. They have a five gallon version with a basket but it hasn't been available on Amazon for a long time. Definitely a new tool. Got some paint on too.
