I don’t get to just load mine with beer and go have crab boils like @Redfish ! Lol just kidding.
But I got shocks, rear cab trim and emblems on yesterday!
Dash, tunes and dubs and it will be officially almost kinda done.

I put a coat of paint on the teepee emblems.
Looks like ****. But the color is pretty close to original I think. I tried brushing it on full strength and when I went over the thin spots a second time and it piled up. Gonna thin some out so it will self level on its own for another coat.
It’s some old school bus yellow base coat from 20 years ago. It actually looks like it’s a different color now. The yellow pigment may be fading. Last time I used some was 2011. I had yellow company trucks forever and would fix my whiskey dents!

Thanks! I like it. And our son is blown away. Wants to drive it all the time.
I was gonna can the visor when we redid the truck but it just worked. (And I found out it wasn’t the source of the windshield rust). Otherwise the rest of the 80s Grampa accessories that resulted in 50 extra holes to weld up didn’t make the cut and are in a box.
I’d have rather had clearance lights but couldn’t see fixing 9 holes in the roof just to put 15 more holes in it. And the sheet metal is tweaked and oil canned from the visor so the decision to re-use it was that much easier.
I did actually consider wireless clearance lights at one point (no holes). But they aren’t period correct. And very expensive for what they are.

"Grandpa accessories" you and me both brother. Quick way to ruin a good truck. Good that you also respect period correctness and don't want to add more holes to the rig. And getting your son involved, can't get any better than that. You may be in Washington, but i'd drink with ya.

Here’s my speedy cast pump setup. I knew the new guy was from New England with the fisher plow set up. All I’ve ever had is fisher and all I’ll ever use. Since I’m hopefully going to have squares for life and I’ve got about 6 complete speedcast setups I think I’m good! lol

Ben

Freakin awesome!!! I love those setups. New hoses look great!

@Maxwellvis did some big block things over the last couple of days.
He worked on it again last night and it fires and will idle.
It needs the timing set and carb tweeked though.

But it sounds sooo nice now.
You can hear the baby cam in it much better just at idle.

He reports our trusty Quadrajet was having multiple issues, so it will either be shelved or sold off.
The original intake makes a good wheel chock now.

Washed the rear frame this morning. Getting it ready for the cleaning, painting and rewiring that it so desperately needs. So glad i finally dug into this truck. Sucks to just stare at such a thing. . .
