That works too.

I looked today, couldn't find the extra brackets I thought I had. Last step was to steel to one of my 78, but it looked like it was going to rain, so I didn't want to uncover it.

that's alright buddy. i would've done the same. I made this bracket work but i'm still on the hunt for heater box pieces now and the tunnel cover still. Anything is appreciated. If have parts of the heater but not all. All junk yards around me either don't have what i need at all or is butchered to beat hell. You know how it goes.

I mounted up a set of M/T Et Street R tires and had some fun at the track. With old setup I was struggling to get anywhere near a good reaction time but changed the trans with one i rebuilt and added a holeshot converter pulled off better times but inconsistent so on went the M/T’s and this passed weekend made it to the semifinals (broke out) with all my rt’s in the .010 to .060 range. I have to put it away until spring but looking forward to some track time next year

Trying to get the interior together. I want to have the truck on the road by October but that might be a bit unrealistic! Still have to finish body work and get the engine back from the machine shop

I disassembled the front spring stack and removed the bottom/overload leaf. The Skyjacker 2.5 inch lift is actually about 3.25 inches and the truck sat nose up. I HATE to have a truck that sits "squatted". It bothered me to the point I had to Do Something.

I am pleased to report that I dropped the nose and the truck sits EXACTLY the way I want it now. It rides a little smoother, the bump steer is all but gone and I am very happy with it.

Mine is #185 not real fast but I have fun. The Motor has never been out of the truck and the transmission was just changed not because of problems but because it has 208000 kilometres and about 300-400 1/4 mile passes on it. The weather / altitude correction at the bottom didn’t help times. I won this round and touched the brakes at the end so mph dropped off a bit

So was that a lucky hunch tapping the brakes, or are you simply just that familiar with your truck?

I do all kinds of things to my squares, I just never post the notable changes until I feel they're worth posting.

Forgive me for my lack of participation

The "under construction" thread doesn't appear down below, so for those of you maybe that don't know, here's my 79.
"Pawpaw truck" got it's 12.5 wides mounted after I built the axle for the tires it's sitting on and the power the crank puts out

She's about ready to be wringing the necks of some sports cars
It'll make power until 130mph or so.

Eaton True Trac
3.73 yukon gears
Timken hardware

While I break the gears in, I'll be saving for a set of billet shafts and C clip eliminators.

I keep forgetting to update my build thread… or really get it started even . Finally got the 4l80 built and upgraded. Sonnex line to lube valve, transgo shift kit, afl valve reamed and upgraded, TCC valve upgraded, dual feed the direct drum, and no walk case bushing with the roller thrust bearing upgrade. Assembled with all new bands, both Warner HD clutches, and steels. Then got it all bolted up to the 454. Now I just need to sort out the wiring harness and it will be ready to drop in the truck some time in October so that it is ready for elk hunting this year.

In 1988 my truck was the street class track champion and I drove it 950 miles to Firebird raceway in Boise and raced it the race of Champions which was all the track champions from the north west. 52 racers and I made it down to the last 7. Shocked a lot of people. Won some money so gas was payed lol.

@WesN so you've been at it for awhile. Back in the day, when Firebird opened...69 ? at their grand opening I managed to wade thru about 50-60 cars and won Stock Eliminator, running the Nova. Last race for the win, went up against a 69 Mustang. 390 4speed car. We compared time slips and I was running almost a half a second quicker and he had to spot me!!We ran NHRA classes then, me an E/Stock car and him in D/Stock. Needless to say it psyched him a little bit and I beat that Mustang BAD! Won a case of oil...Valvoline 40 ?, I think and $50!! Was a GREAT day........It's always a great day when you can take money out of the New Family's pocket
