as much as i HATE to say this I haven't done anything to the basket case due to the weather and a death in the family. My uncle, who was a giant car nut, passed away and he never got to see my square. At the end he kept asking for pictures and i never had the time to send him any. I hope that he watches over me as i get the basket case back onto the road.

Well I haven’t done it yet,but,technically,I started by getting the parts,most of them anyway.Waiting on a Dakota Digital gauge cluster.I am thinking about doing a step by step,breaking it down here.We’ll see.Will definitely keep the progress known.Starting this job in about a week.

Ya,I’m not camera shy,but the idea of step by step and sharing it,is somewhat exhausting.If that makes since.But,I wanna contribute to my fellow gearheads.So we’ll see

It has been a productive night to say the least. My new carb is on the truck and now the truck runs and idles........ Considering that the carb that the truck came with was missing pieces this is a great upgrade. Even the choke works. After messing with the carb the pin holes on the driver's side floor all got "fixed" with a cambell hausfield wire feed welder. i need to grind the "welds" down but i can do that later. To top off the evening's festivities I'm taking all of the stock instrumentation out of the broken housing and putting into the housing that my sister got me for Christmas (a table top project) I have been too lax recently working on the truck and for that I feel bad. I could blame my lazyness on my Uncle passing but if he was here right now he would put his size 12 shoe into my size 8........ you can figure the rest out.

Finally started turning parts blue again. Got a little base coat down. Paint is the wrong color.....

Not even close!

Also got all the wing window parts repainted and clear coated, so can re-assemble the wing windows now. with new seals.

Question? I took too many of the pieces apart. After the fact I realized I didn't need to split the 2 frame pieces if I'd just removed the pivot rivet up top.
They were assembled originally with smash rivets, little tiny huck rivets.
I can either rivet them back together with steel pop rivets or machine screws and nuts. (cut the extra threads off flush with the nut after assembly)
I'm a little skeptical the pop rivets will last "forever" and may loosen up. Bolted together with loc tite seems like a more solid plan.
Suggestions?

@Grit dog for our lighter blue (assuming yours is also 21 LT blue met, like mine is) it should be this color of can. TBH I have not verified this personally.

Yes it’s code 21. It’s just not right. That other pic is of my floorboard. Factory paint that’s never seen the light of day. The touch up can is much closer to that.
I contacted the paint mfg today. Will see what they say.

Good luck! If you can, let me know what you find out. I'll be repainting some spots on my floor boards this summer.

Extreme differences like that happen from time to time. It's best to have a color sample and have it mixed (to match) locally.

For sure. I'm trying out Tamco paint, who is mail order only. So far, I like the quality of their products. One of the risks being something like this. Will see if they can correct it.

I unfortunately haven't done a damn thing in a couple weeks. May be crappy weather hitting here....stay home and warm up the garage. Avoid the roads 6-12 inches on its way.
Got a fuel return line to install, re Install the core support and Radiator.....2 steps forward 1 backwards sometimes

@Goldie Driver a while back I picked up a prop valve tool it worked great to hold that valve in the center while bleeding. Hope it helps out. But you are absolutely correct, there is a bunch of junk parts. I snagged a new AcDelco MC on rockauto but haven't tried installing it yet. I'm really hoping it's better then the part store stuff.

I am going take her in this week if the shop can get her and have the brakes looked at. And the carb - dam choke works better when warm than it does when it's cold ..
