Thanks for the advise, I believe it. My back is already a bit messed up from the stupid crap I have tp do at work. I only do that if I absolutely have to.
I had a buddy help me with the bumper, I was not messing around with that thing, to damn heavy. I'll probably use the tractor to put it on.

And lifting the 350, I think only did that twice. I dont get any help with my projects, have to do it all by myself. Took it from the ground where it was plopped, up onto a pallet, so itd stay safe, then again from the pallet to the bed on a truck to bring it away. Didn't have a tractor or a hoist at the time. I do now.

Ouch.

I picked up a bare Olds 455 block once but it was to move it in and out of a parts washer. Not off the deck. That was enough for me. I've developed a lot of techniques for lifting heavy objects now. None of them involve my back.

1975 C30 Dually, 350.
$1500, and the guy threw in 2 nice tires and rims that go with it, a new muffler, a blanket for the seat, a bunch of tools that are in the tool boxes on the side, and gave me a couple gallons of gas becuse it was low.
Plan on making a tow truck out of it. Got my hands on an old style wrecker bed. Should be a fun project. Got some plans, haha.

Is this fictional and for appearance of just appearance? Looked like that would provide a few more inches to clear a taller carb setup as well

A while ago, I crossed some wires when reconnecting cables to the battery (starter cable is black with red ends - lots of nice sparks hooking that up wrong). Messed up the alternator and I could have sworn that I heard an electrical "snap" from it. Sent it to Mechman for repair, which they did under warrantee even after I told them what I did. Finally got around to installing it last week and the electrical arc sound was still there. Cr@p. Last night I checked the engine bay at night and found the location of the spark - spark plug wire came off the distributor. Hooked that back up and the engine runs much smoother.

Odd thing happened though: I switched the PCV valve from the passenger side to the driver's side valve cover (and the vent swapped sides too) and then it started blowing a lot of smoke out the tailpipes. That didn't clear up after a couple of minutes so I swapped them back and all is fine. FWIW, both were in the rear of the valve covers. Any ideas?

The only thing I can think of is the oil drain holes in the back of the driver's side head are all clogged. This would form a puddle of oil that the PCV is pulling into the carb.

It will be able to accommodate a taller carb setup, but not just yet, I’m 80hours into this mod, had to prep the original structure of the 81-87 hood to be able to accommodate the 67-68 hood shell, it will incorporate the 67-68 rear hood arch support, possibly a portion of the front as well but both heavily modified to fit, I’ll be sure to update as I go and if someone like yourself is interested answer any questions… I’ve got the majority of the build pics on “Stormin Norman” feed

Cap, rotor, module,wires,plugs. Oil,oil filter,air filter&breather filter also gave it a bath. That’s enough for today. It’s time to watch some football and have a couple ( maybe 3 or so ) beers.

Removed my toolbox in order to test fit my new-to-me show bar. I will have to cut out sections of my bedliner so it will sit down properly.

The tool box wasn't very useful since the truck is kind of tall. Plus it tended to gather stuff below it. Upon removal, I found a couple drive shafts and a wiring harness that I forgot I owned, lol. They were hidden behind some firewood and a floor jack that I carry around. The toolbox is now mounted to my son's '93 C-1500. It should be much more useful there.

Maybe a baffle in the valve cover. Present on only one side or missing one?

That's what I'm thinking. I'll investigate when I have more time / desire, but right now the solution seems to be "don't do that"

That truck is a '77, but it came with fenders, doors, hood and a tailgate from a '73 or '74 truck. Apparently the higher trim trucks had actual chrome letter badges that went on the stamped GMC. The '73-'74 GMC tailgates are an odd duck around here. I don't remember ever seeing one before... I'm sure I did, but I simply don't remember it. This truck is from Washington, so it has survived much better than around here.
