I stared to work on my 1986 K30. I'm changing the carb to fuel injection and thinking about using a 4l80 trans Then paint I've had it since 1987 so it time for up grades
Using a throttle position sensor for the 4L80? Not sure how to put an electronic trans in these old dinosaurs.

Yes, you can get an 0411 early P01 ECU from just about any chevy vehicle from 99-02(usually cost about $50 with pigtails) and then you only need TPS and tach inputs. VSS is also helpful, but not required for proper shifting.

Man that looks oem. You recall the paint color of the gray you used?
Thank you.

Yeah, it's called "cheapest silver at Walmart", haha.
I don't remember the brand, but it was a big tall can, it was really cheap, and it looked exactly the same as the original.
I may still have some left, I'll go look for the can.

I used Best brand flat black, a Rustoleum gloss clear coat over the silver, and a matt clear of a different brand on the black. The emblem, I did in rustoleum gloss apple I think it was called.

Finally got around to getting my visors covered. Been putting it off because I was NOT going to use the local guy that did my dash. Found a dude in Elgin, east of Lawton that quoted $50 for the pair with me supplying the vinyl. Just picked them up & thought he did a great job. He basically rebuilt them. All new cardboard & foam headliner material before stitched up. Waiting for Heath & KD to come over so won’t get around to getting the arms in & mounted. Should tomorrow hope. Anyhow...

Found it.
Krylon Brilliant Silver. Comes out very glittery, but with a coat of clear, it tones it down perfectly.

Thank you! Unfortunately I work on weekends. Didn’t even know about it tho. Is that an annual event?
Yes, they have done it for a few years I believe. The SETN (C10) Nationals in Lebanon, TN in July is killer. Around 1,200 truck this year.
A great one to go to.

Yeah I know. Bad thing is no junk yards around here have any square parts in them. I called around to several. You have to travel up north a few hundred miles to find non Rusty parts.

It's really weird how the pull your part places have pretty much disappeared from my area. I even called some in Houston with no luck at all. This guy brought it to me. So I didn't even have to go hunt it down. It's more Thani wanted to spend but, my doors are really rusted beyond repair. It is what it is. Lol

Most of the Houston junkyards seem to want to only keep never vehicles.

Sure, I am going junkyarding for my 2015 Mercedes...

:emotions34:

So, I feel ya.

Wife and I decided to tackle the nasty cracks in the dash. Cut out the bad parts, filled with foam, cut and sanded to contour, filled with reinforced bondo, sanded, coated with shaky can bed liner, and threw some paint on her. Just need to come up with final color and add my 3D printed speaker cover thingamajigs (with speaker mesh) I designed.

Edit to say that while I gave her some minimal guidance at the beginning of the dash project, she did all of this herself! :)

Also removed smog equipment and added headers. I'll be cleaning and keeping the old stuff. She's a lot cleaner looking under the hood now. I'll post some pics after I get the engine bay cleaned up a bit...

Took my seat belts out. Gave them a quick scrub and a wash.
Maybe going to sell them to Itali83, we'll see...

Been busy the past 5 days giving my V20 some love! Swapped PS pump, installed upper & lower ball joints, new 2" Tuff Country Add-A-Leaf front springs(PITA!) new Monroe Magnums all around, new tires I had mounted on another set of GM alloys, new front axle u joints & re-packed bearings, changed engine oil, tranny fluid & filter, new rear-end vent hose, installed my new rear bumper w/wired in license plate lights and my bone yard front bumper & bumperette's I believe I purchased from a SB Forum member, new wiper blades & siliconed my windshield, AND got the "mystery light" installed into the back of my cluster without removing it...it was the 4WD light I discovered when I pulled it into 4wd and the underside of the dash lit up. I still have to get the front driveline/CV rebuilt, the last thing & the running gear in this 'ole girl is SOLID! I'm super-happy with the stance now, the front is ever-so-slightly higher than the rear, but I'm thinking(hoping) the new leafs will soften up a bit with some use. Found the front Dealer Showroom plate on Ebay, had to have it!

Pulled the heater blower motor off my CUCV, its been blowing the fuse every time I turn it on. Seemed to spin free, so I bench checked it, and it works fine. It has been replaced before, because there is a NAPA sticker on it. So now I am not sure what is causing the fuse to blow. Really need a defroster since this is my plow truck! I'll trynto chase the wiring down later and see if I can find anything there. Thought this was going to be a quick fix
