Upcoming oil change turned into, meh, let's do it tonight.

Had to swing by OReallys to get the oil filters cause last time they were cheaper, and I did not think about it last night while at Devanced Auto.

Yeah, I am a *******.

:(

Anyhoo, WTF is up with the AC Delco boxes ?

Made in USA, but you would never know it from the box !

ordered some Puraglobe/Syntainics oil for the truck (5w-30). It's renewed oil with graphene in it and it's supposed to be better for the environment (not that I care when it comes to engine oil). I've had it written on my white board at work for about 5 years. They finally sell it to consumers.

Anyway, it came in today along with a wix filter I ordered. We'll see what/how it does. Honestly, I expect to not see a difference. I'll do 3 oil changes, and if I don't feel a difference or see difference at the pump, I'll go back to normal. $50 per change is about $17 more per oil change that I'm doing now.

Finally got a day to make some progress on the truck. Got the whole chassis, core support and underside of the bed painted.
1 step closer!

First someone keeps asking about the triangle piece on the front wheel tubs. So I took some pictures, old original 73 wheel tub and a brand new metals direct tub. Yes the patch is there on the new ones.

Also got some stuff done today! Last week the high temp was 109 today 78! Patched the drivers door mirror holes and applied some filler getting ready for a day of primer spraying. And got some of the drivers front fender stripped. Ran out of media, tomorrow is supposed to be nice too!

Adjusted the steering wheel on Goldie- when I had aligned last time I had a pull to the right, so I had them offset the wheel to the left. Doesn't make sense now to me, but it did at the time. :anitoof:

Anyhoo, the new tires solved the pull problem, but I had the offset wheel.

Today I decided to fix it- the fact that my mechanic neighbor was out so I could borrow a pipe wrench helped my decision.

:)

Went too far the 1st time - of course- but I think I got it now.

Looking down thru the fender well if you pull the pipe wrench towards you it moves the steering wheel to the left.

Total guesswork as to how much to turn it to get where you want, but I am happy- for now :D - with the results.

Did this again, and I believe I had the instructions backwards.

Pushing the channel locks in this case towards the engine moves the wheel left.

Yeah, I goofed...

Guess how I figured it out...

D'oh !

I ran it out of fuel the other day. Went last Saturday to the place that sells the 110 at the pump, "out of order" bags over the handle, they say they're getting a delivery this week. I've got just under a 1/4 tank on the auto meter fuel gauge so I think "I can take it for a little cruise around town and be fine" needless to say, it was not fine. Coming around the last curve before getting back into town (we're talking like a 6ish mile ride) and I feel the engine get soft and flutter. gas gauge still above "E" annnnnd it dies. Pull over and open the hood, sure enough fuel filter is dry as a bone. Called the wife to bring a can from the house to get it home. She thought I was joking! So now I know where empty is on the gauge, and more reason to fix that passenger tank and get the tank selector valve working this year at some point so I can get back to 40 gallons of capacity. Lol

Compared to what most of you guys are getting done.......... it's a small thing.
Taped off and repainted the fender badges. Small steps !
(The tabs on back of the badges were broken, someone had put the screws in there, but it works) Saved about $100 for new ones.

Maybe smaller flat head screws painted to match the black of the letters would hide them a little better.

Saving 100 smackers is always good ! :)

Been working on my instrument cluster lately. Still having issues with the gauges, but decided while I was in there, I'd change out the incandescent bulbs to dimmable LEDs. Worked like a charm, and I can see my broken guages now!!
