Just teasing :)

I literally laughed out loud. I have a few empty cans of that orange I still need to throw away from a previous build. The block is laying next to my truck.

I probably should have done the block in something other than black though. Once its in it will all but disappear now that the engine bay is black as well. But the stainless headers are gonna look sooo good with the blackdrop.

Believe it or not, I have been working on the square :headbang: Heck, even tonight my wife sat in it on the back bench seat and said "this is going to be a sweet ride, I cannot wait to cruise in it"....so I think she is a keeper :Big Laugh:


I put the tailgate on last week, and holy balls, the drivers side fender was a click over 1/2" gap to the gate!! SO...I put a ratchet strap on that fender and to the passengers side of the bumper, pulled it in and then stood on the ratchet strap....I am 6'-4" & 280lbs so I got the fender where I wanted it! Looks good now. Tailgate just needs some lube is all.

I also removed from my green 76 parts truck the AC condenser and put it in Ole' Blue. My problem now is my grill will NOT fit due to the trans cooler, so I will be placing that under the truck somewhere. I also replaced the busted drivers side signal bezel/lens with the parts truck one. Put in the grommets from parts truck to this one for horn wiring too. Dam handy to have that complete parts truck!

Here sits the poor Olds 455 engine awaiting to be re-torn back down so I can cut the valve guide seats to fit the springs for the thumpr cam I already installed....dammit. I am thinking about one of two different intakes for this engine. Either a dual quad plain jane intake, or a dual quad tunnel ram intake. Neither for performance, just the "cool factor". I am leaning towards the dual quad tunnel ram intake (around 11 inches tall).

Last, but not least a guy HAS to clean up the shop once in a while, and that tonight was my project to clean up the shop. I am trying to get ready for winter so I am planning to put the truck against the right wall (where old snowmobiles are), then line up sleds next to it so I can also fit in my '01 3/4 ton suburban so my wife does not have to deal with the cold & snow.....well, so I don't have to clean off the damned thing every time it snows too. Kinda sad, a bigass 4 car garage and 2 vehicles barely fit.

I guess it does not help I have a massive cabinet sandblaster/big workbench/80 gallon air compressor and other crap taking up space. I think I need to build a pole building to store stuff...

Went by the shop today hoping to install the alternator and ps pump with the new ict billet brackets. Didnt go as planned due to having the wrong ps pump....
I Was however able to get the alt on and painted the ps pulley.
It was awesome because of course I spent an hour prepping the pump for paint only to discover it wouldnt work and there goes another $100 on a new pump even though the one I already have is almost new.

Narrow frame Cub?

Hey bucket, that is a ’74 or ’75 Cub 149 Hydro wide frame. She is mostly for my heavy work around the yard (I have around a 2,000 lb packing wheel) and I also plow snow with it, and last year I modified my QA-42 snow thrower for it (restored the thrower a few years back and I was not happy with how it worked). Now it’s more of a “throw the snow into next fricken year” kinda thrower (I can’t leave anything alone…..). It has been bored out, new crank/piston/rod, originally a 14 hp Kohler, not sure what it has now for HP. I do some mowing with it in my ditches, it’s the only thing I can keep on all 4 wheels in my ditch. Damned good yard tractor!!!!

The engine was shot (oodles of blow by) when i got it, but it still was an awesome machine. I picked up a replacement 321a engine for it a while back, I really need to get around to dropping it in.
I have a 125 that I really like, but the carb is acting up so I haven't used it in a while. Also have a 125 parts tractor and a 70 that needs a steering colum. Water got in the steering box and froze. I read somewere that a 125 steering colum will work on it, but other places say no, just haven't gotten around to checking it out. They came with a snow blower but I have never used it.

My 149 had some stupid walbro aftermarket carb on it, and no matter how I adjusted it the dang thing would not work right...ever! Every little bump the engine would hesitate too. An original carb (used) is way too much. It just so happens my dad had a spare stock 149 carb (he also has the same 149 Cub) so I bought a re-build & sleeve kit for it, what a world of difference!

So, if you can find a good kit to re-build it you should be in business. A lot of times the butterfly post through the top of the carb wears out and makes them run like crap.

Here is my snow thrower mods..original sprocket ground off (black lines around where I had to grind), a new and much smaller sprocket put on in place of it. I also replaced the drive sprocket by going 2 teeth smaller I believe. Then I closed up the gaps on the auger, and built a guard for it in case the extendable PTO shaft comes apart...

A lot of guys put a smaller pulley on the 90 degree gear box, which makes everything spin way faster than it should, I did not want to take that risk of ruining everything or shelling a gearbox, so I modified the thrower itself.

I've been D-D ing it.

Since the Jetta has some problems and a number of maintenance items due it kind of made sense to leave it on the sidelines, so it's been parked for the last week and a half. Hopefully it will be roadworthy next week. But it's amazing how things "fix" themselves when you just exercise them. For example, the door lock switch now unlocks the passenger door, when it only locked it before.

The other result was changing the alternator belt. Since the last one was pretty spaghetti-like and would lose traction on the pulley every couple of days and require yet more tightening.

The pic doesn't really show what a rubber band this thing turned into, but trust me, you could almost shave with it.

Ordered a new AC/Delco belt from Rock, using the GMSB discount code. Belt works great, was VERY pleased to see Made in USA on it.

127 and 147 are both narrow frame. The 147 does have a kickout and notch in the frame for engine and flywheel clearance. The 147 was the final evolution of the narrow frame models and I believe came standard with stuff that was optional on others. Headlights, electric deck lift and wider rims. Also there was not a 146 (manual trans).

Got about 70% of the wiring done tonight. Been putting this off forever and dreading it. Really wasn’t bad, I just had to stop looking at the whole picture and just focus on one circuit at a time
