After my stupid aftermarket turn signal switch broke, I improvised in this one.

It's just a 3 way toggle switch (a very high quality one) and part of an old antenna crimped over it.
Now I have to get a couple af diodes in order to make the brake lights work correctly.

That's an interesting idea, but it kinda looks like a fire hazzard.

Step daughter wants to have the old truck in her senior pics, and it needed a little attention I felt to make it look just a little better for the photos. It was missing various pieces of the trim on the passengers side and about half of it was peeling up on the driver side. The previous owner had put the gray roll on bed liner on the bottom half of the truck and over the years it has faded and was quite blotchy and just kind of grungy looking. So over the weekend I peeled all the old trim pieces off, got the adhesive taken off, washed the truck and then in a kind of coin flip with my wife, instead of painting it some shade of gray/sliver like I had intended she talked me into blacking out the bottom half of the truck where the bed liner is applied to cover it up and seal it up. She's right, it does hide a few of the imperfections down there on both sides. It isn't a permanent fix, but once the new trim is installed after the paint dries for a few days I think it's going to make quite a difference in the appearance of the old girl. It's just a shame it sat in a 3 sided hay barn for about 4 years before I bought it, because the paint is actually pretty decent on the drivers side, but the passengers side has about 35% of the clear coat flaked off from the constant beating of the afternoon sun with how it was sitting in the barn. The body is a winter '21 project but for senior pics upcoming in a few weeks, She ought to look alright. Kiddo said, "we'll just take pics from her good side!"

I have been working on a wiring mess, and I finally got it all figured out. Holy balls, I have never seen so many useless wires ran to whatever the heck they were doing with them, toggle switches all over and breakers, burned up wiring, melted casing on wiring....glad this baby had no engine otherwise I would have probably tried starting it and burned the damn thing down!!

Since I suck at taking "before" pictures I do not have much, I like to jump in and keep going until complete and neglect before pictures which sucks because this was not fun.

Very thankful I purchased the green 76 GMC parts truck that was never touched, between that truck, the wiring diagrams on this site, and the 77 book you see in one of these pics, I got it done!

(As you can see, I am not too worried about cleaning everything up, I can do that later. For now I want it all to work properly).

Here is some of the useless wires that were in place. Lots of wires spliced into others, bad crimps, poor connections...etc.

I now have all the wires routed properly (well, until I stuff the Olds engine in there), and all wires have proper ends on them, and as you can see blue tape with sharpie marker of where each wire goes. Put on new wire loom protectors also. Now I just need to fasten them into place with the plastic clips. I won't do that until the engine is in place in case I need to make small adjustments.

Got the AC stuff in it (old stuff was all cut/hacked up) from the green 76 and put into this one. Fixed up the wiring to get it all into place! (77 truck book, man is that handy!!). Got it all sealed up, every "correct" fastener into place..etc. Oh, and you can see the "properly" routed wires, nicely done and not just hanging all over heck...

And once again, glad I have that green 76, the headlight harness was ran along side the hoses you see on the fenderwell in that clamp, and of course all the plastic wire loom holders were missing, so I lucked out again and the green truck had all those little trinkets I needed.

See the fire extinguisher bracket, for how this thing was wired up I would have put one in there too!!!

I started cutting out and replacing the cross members on my 7000lb trailer. It started out with me just pulling the decking off and like many projects do, has ballooned a bit. Hoping to get the rest and the welding done today.

Waxed the white on Goldie in a race against the dying daylight.

Made it, so all that's left is the bottom brown.

That way she'll bead nice if the hurricane hits ...

Lost my putzing around town cruise control as this one actually brings the carb back to zero without a quick tap of the go pedal.

Oh and ol brown not to be outdone, did not like this upgrade evidently and has ceased to indicate which gear she's in...

used some degreaser and my hose and cleaned engine for first time. will come at it again but this was without any hand scrubbing ,all just water and zepp industrial degreaser

Surprisingly dried nice and easys and started up. i covered air cleaner distributor and the battery for spray

Whadaya use that trailer for? That's alot of real estate between the tongue and the axles fer such a short tail. Bet it never sways.

Well, I didn't destroy ol brown today.
A white Honda tried to commit suicide by pulling out right in front of me. Girl didn't even look until I was about to smash her in the driver door, guess it was a good thing it happened in town so I wasn't going that fast.

People that thing holding your head up is called a neck. It allows you to swivel your head around and be aware of your surroundings. Let's take advantage of that feature.
