Was the old one metal, and the new plastic ?

Mine was, but it came out easy - got lucky.

New was metal and old seemed to have like a plastic cover on it.

Didn't like the look of the white on the new shocks I got for the ol' girl. Lots of white shocks in the World for one and two, the paint quality from Rancho was somewhat unimpressive to be honest. So, Metallic Silver it is! Two down and two to go.

picked up a camper shell/toper....whatever it's called lol for $125. Good shape although it's for a newer chevy with a more narrow bed. It's in about an inch on each side. Doesn't bother me though.

There are groves as much as probably 50 thousands of an inch deep, I don't think its surfaceable. I've been driving 2 years with it that way.

Originally when I bought the truck, I knew it needed a clutch, so I replaced it (after it completely exploded on me) and never got the flywheel resurfaced.

Its no wonder why there was so much clutch chatter and slippage.

I finally have another flywheel, and its a hell of an improvement. I also am upgrading to an 11 inch clutch from a 10 inch (I got the clutch, flywheel and pressure plate in a package deal off of craigslist).

By the way, it literially took me less than 45 minutes to get everything apart. First time I did it, (2 years ago) it took me nearly 2 days.

I had to go out and check the lights out in the dark. My initial impression is that I like them. They are brighter than the halogen bulbs I had. I do have to get a new retainer ring for the drivers side headlight because the outboard tab come off the ring but aiming still isn't terrible. ****** pictures but it shows what it needs to.

Im not one to advocate running LEDs in the improper housings on roads( I run H4 led in mine, hella brand, but no road driving. scatters bad.) BUT I am very much a proponent of white light for headlights. Have you considered white H4 halogens? Blue filter on em. Pricey, but the clarity from the contrast is AMAZING

I think that topper, shell, camper etc looks good on there especially with the bed rail caps. Sometimes the toppers seem to overhang too much particularly on the rear corner.

Those might be the same conversion lights I've been eying for a while but square eye instead of round eye. You giving this a thumbs up? Easy plug n play?

I would have preferred to plug it into the drivers side headlight socket to eliminate some of that small gauge wire but the way it was built with the passenger side battery I had no choice. I think I'll try to find a different harness or build a new one. It's also possible I'm overthinking it.


I would recommend this setup, it was easy to install and works well so far!

Fired up Bessie for the first time in 3 weeks. In the midst of moving from the metro Atlanta area to the Savannah Ga area. She fired up fight away, let her run about 30 minutes. She made the move on a trailer

Lol, thanks. The 5/8 bolt actually goes through the frame in the factory hole also. I don't like how it just kinda hangs out there though. Once I get the others mounted I'm going to redo this one out of a couple pieces and contour it to the frame.

Agreed it would look a lot better contoured. But it is well hidden under there.
