Replaced the filter in my carb for the first time in probably 10ish years. I only drive this truck about 1,000 miles a year and I run another inline disposable filter down on the frame rail that I have changed between the carb filters.

The fuel had made the glue let go, the caps just came off once it was out, and the check valve was torn, probably from the ethonol fuel.

It wasn't that dirty but still pretty dirty considering there was a filter before this one I thought. No big crap in it.

Turns out the pinging i've been chasing down for the last couple months was not pinging. After playing with timing and jetting it turns out that the vacuum switch for the torque converter would buzz depending on the throttle position it and sounded like pinging. So added a vacuum delay check valve and the noise is gone. Not sure weather to be happy i found it or pissed it took so long. :banghead: The worst part is i had the valve ready to go in all that time just hadn't got around to it..

Got the cruise control all mounted and functional. The red light is the cruise on indicator and the silver button is resume/ accel.

I talked to the shop Fri to see where we're at on the BBC and transmission swap. The suspension too since I dropped off motor and transmission. Said ol boy working on it has been home all week with a root canal. Ok I'm not pissed but, in 2 weeks they just put on front springs and shocks.

He text me this afternoon and said were back on it but, needed the flywheel off the sbc because it wouldn't match up to torque converter. Also needed the u shape part for shift linkage on trans. Ok, no problem. So got home and separated the motor and transmission to get to the flywheel and remove it.

Got both off and he came and picked them up. I also have him a flywheel cover to put on too. He asked what I was gonna do about exhaust because he don't mess with that anymore as he expects to be done by the end of the week. Said suspension is done and motor in. Just have to swap flywheel and put trans back in.

I told him I'll drive it home with open headers and get one of my buddy's to put an exhaust on it. 3 own muffler shops. Lol

Well, that was unexpected but, at least I should get it back by the end of the week. That will be a loud ride home. Lol

Thanks for the heads up. She runs like a champ now, but definitely putting a fuel filter in mine. I appreciate it!

Love that green color scheme in the two tone. Would also be epic if the interior was the same?

Not sure what BBC you are installing, versus the small block, but I think that the 454 engine is external balance. Unless you are replacing a 400, DON'T use that flexplate

Well thanks! The interior was green and purple... I spent about $40 and restored the interior to the best of my ability on a budget. Some paint/fiberglass on the door panels, some wood vinyl wrap, some stretchy Suede material from Walmart and some patience on the dash bezel with black and silver paint... turned this...

Thanks, I do too! Meshes well with the green. Was really easy with heat and an exacto knife.

My carpet is TRASH, but I will be doing that after the cab corner repairs... I don’t want to burn new carpet when welding in cab corners. A person would probably pull the carpet anyways, it’s also an excuse for me to spend that money on”Go-fast” parts lol.
