Swapped in the new master cylinder and self bled the brakes with a Mt. Dew bottle. Worked awesome. Truck stops on a dime now. Got home then my phone started blowing up with msgs from FB marketplace. A couple hours later I toss a set of seats into my truck and head 6 miles down the road. The motor revs to the moon and won't shift, it does this sometimes when it's cold. I pull it down a gear and upshift and it slams into gear. I'm thinking "ok, it's low on fluid". I made my delivery while manually shifting the whole way but it won't go into 3rd. So I stop and grab a gallon, pull the dipstick and it breaks off in my hand. I was able to catch it before it went down the tube though. So now I have no idea how much is in the tranny. I just dump 2qts in and head home. Same thing won't shift. I pull over and dump in another quart, circle around a parking lot and same thing. Then it dons on me, the vacuum actuator on the transmission. I get under the truck and sure enough!

So now I start scrambling around the truck. I know I have hose in there somewhere. Found some that was a little too small for the actuator (why do they make the actuator nipple and the steel line different sizes? Stupid engineers) and it's 2ft long. Well since I broke my knife I didn't bring it with me but a plastic knife kinda works if you go real fast! Got it buttoned up and shifting right. Now I have to drain some fluid out of the tranny lol

Finally got around to fixing my Gen 1 light that came on the last time I plowed snow. Figured I better fix it since we are supposed to get up to 8 inches of the white stuff tomorrow.

Spent a couple hours troubleshooting and chasing wires before I figured out that it was the heater fuse causing the problem! Dam CUCV electrics.

Fired it up and the radiator is leaking. Pulled the shroud off and see the problem, a split where the tank attaches to the core. Would be an easy fix except that the truck has the wrong radiator in it (which would explain why it overheats sometimes when I am plowing hard). Someone replaced the original 4 core with a 2 core.

I'll have to check my 82 parts truck, it should have the right radiator in it, hopefully it is usable. Probably won't get it swapped in time for this storm, hopefully they are wrong about the possible accumulations.

How are you liking those shifters?

Also, I like the tweed seat!

Thanks, haha, I've heard about tweed before and I know it used to be a huge thing but I don't actually know how to tell what upholstery is what, except for maybe Vinyl and Leather lol

I love the shifters! It's so easy to put it in gear. Much better than having to fight the stock NP203 shifter to get past 2hi

Decided it was time to see how Goldie chews on 20W50 Castrol- I.E. oil change.

PF1218 filter, too.

Straight oil - no zinc additive.

Only trouble was while I was in the back digging out the funnel, the stream moved and doused the cardboard under the drain pan.

It held, though - no quart of jet black oil on the driveway ...

:anitoof:

Also did a little foaming engine cleaner.

A buck 94 waste, umm, err, experiment.

:D

Got another item checked off the list of my to-do list. Still need to get the sun visors done and different floor mats. Even tho this was initially planned, the extinguisher fit in the space just right.

It's amazing what you can do with an orbital polisher and some ****** paint. The areas where it burns through, are especially cool since it makes the truck look more original.

Roughed in the alignment last night and threw on the rallies. Gonna raise the rear and string it tonight to dial in the alignment

Picked it up today after motor and transmission swap and new suspension done. It wasn't too bad driving home with open headers but, I wouldn't wanna do it all the time. Took a small video of the ride home. You can't hear it real good unless I step on it a little. As you know it's much louder taking off from a stop.
