Doing NOTHING on truck today.

The Union Pacific "Big Boy" steam locomotive will stop for the day in Tucson. It is the only operating "Big Boy", the largest steam locomotive ever built, of the original 25 produced.

It's on a trip across the west to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the "Golden Spike" connecting the East to the West by railroad.

Being a train nut I can't miss this.
Was the Big Boy built by Lima Locomotive?

Just left Big Boy static display in Tucson. Will post pictures when I get home.

Tomorrow I hope to get more pictures of it on the move.

The emblems appear to have been removed and the holes were filled with smooth headed rivets. Weird.
This truck is a stripped down W/T but I don’t think GM was so embarrassed that they didn’t mount the fender emblems.
They did that on the CUCVs too.

Interesting. All the GM fenders I've bought needed holes drilled in them for the emblems. I guess the ones the factory used has them pre-punched. That would mean the Custom Deluxe, Scottsdale and Silverado badges probably all had the same bolt pattern.

My guess would be Oe replacement fenders cross too many years to pre punch.

Not sure about the 80's, but my nos 73-80 fenders are pre punched for the emblem holes.

Thanks for the pic of the hoist with the cab. Never thought of that. I've been wanting to pull the cab and clean up the frame under it along with other stuff. @TravisB
