Open the door to go to work yesterday and there lays my rear view mirror on the floor... ugh so after 41 years hangin around it decided it was out lol prepping to reglue it. Scraped off all the old glue and cleaned with brake cleaner, gunna use gorilla glue. Not recommended i know but i figure wtf the windshield is already broke...

Might be a good idea to rough up the area with fine sandpaper so glue adheres better.

24 gauge is awfully thin. I make all my patches from 18ga and these trucks were mostly 19ga.

But 24 gauge won't be OEM or NOS. Won't even be close to factory original. I guess "what ever" is ok if you don't mind your floorboards flexing when you climb in or out.

If you would of bought GMC replacement panels it would of been much thicker. We all know GMC's were made with thicker sheet metal than Chevys. ;)

Got around to pulling my propshaft a few days ago. Rear uni joint flogged out. Ordered a new uni and now just waiting until I get back home from work next Wednesday to fit it

Has anyone ever fitted an 8 Ball to a shifter? If so, where did you get the threaded insert? I need to source a fine thread insert to fit the 8 Ball I have a shifter knob.

I had a custom 4 ball from ebay but the guy didnt cut spines he just drilled a hole that was too big. I wrapped the lever in dope tape and crammed it on

I've had the 8 Ball since '86-'87 and I drilled the hole to fit the B&M or Hurst floor shifter for the TH400 in my '56. It was loose on that shifter, but just rotated, it wasn't sloppy. When I parked the '56 in '91 I put the 8 Ball in Mean Green but the hole is too big, and the 8 Ball flopped around on the shifter. It was always loose, and no amount of tape or anything would keep it snug. Back then I was pretty rough on the old truck, with bumps and jumps, and carrying on. One night the 8 Ball popped off the shifter, and it was never allowed to be used again. But I like it, and want to use it again, only thing is I want to be able to screw it down. That said, I was eating lunch just now and thinking about this, and realized there is a Budget Bolt a couple miles away, and they may have the insert I'm looking for. If they do I can epoxy the insert into the 8 Ball, get a thin nut to lock it in place on the shifter, and that would hold it. I just need them to carry the insert I need, and they should, they a wide assortment of various types of fasteners. So I'll take the shifter out of the transmission, and take the 8 Ball along with me, and see what they have. Worse come to worse, I could use one of my 1/4 inch chisels and make the hole a hex, and glue in a fine-threaded nut. Either way that 8 Ball is being used again, and I think I have figured out my solution to do it. Or I can acquire another 8 Ball and start with a smaller hole. Options.

Had one of my co workers move my truck because he was cleaner than me, so I watched as he threw it in park and the reverse lights flashed on momentarily, so I reached up on the column and bumped the switch over 2 clicks and now I have reverse lights finally after the last few years of thinking it was something wrong with the transmission swap wiring. Never thought to look on the column until I searched for it. I’ve driven the truck a few days now since replacing the radiator and having to get a custom oil cooler line made, everything is holding up well!
