Aside from some major blow-by out of the dip stick and a harder 1-2 shift than I remember....feels good.

Steady oil pressure, temps <210*, idle is ok...could probably be tweaked

I took the dog out for a spin in the truck and then finally started working on the hydroboost swap...

Still have to run the hoses and what not, but it's getting there. Hope to get a write-up out soon after I get it finished.

Loved my Hydro boost, will be going into my extra cab.

I just picked up a 14bff 3.73 gov-lock, drum to drum, out of a wrecked 40k mi truck for $300....This should nicely solve my 3000rpm cruise for the money. Coming back into my neighborhood the mast cyl (I think) went out. I think the truck is proactively retaliating against modification.

Finish putting slotted mags on but missing three lug nuts, fixed some of the dry rotted vacuum caps and pulled some unessary hose from the charcoal canister(just laying around) found out heater core is leaking so that will be bypassed for now.
Also found out you need all 8 plug wires to run all 8 cylinders lol. Found out my miss was a spark plug wire had come undone so I plugged it back on and wala runs so much smoother and not so rich. Who woulda thought.

Changed out the o-ring on the pressure line going into the power steering pump and the o-ring on the pressure union to try and stop the steady leak and changed the leak from a steady drip to a nice stream. :idiot: Changed the o-ring on the pressure union back to the original and now its back to a slow drip. :banghead: I assume the seal between the pump and the reservoir is bad.

That's all the farther I got because after removing and reinstalling the pump 3 times, I was ready to take it out and smash it with a hammer.

Maybe I'll just go buy a new one. :shitsweak:

What does one do when short on funds to do a bunch of parts replacements, and planning to take the truck on a trip to blow things out, but one suspects, or distrusts the old wheel bearings and doesn't want to chance it? Well, one goes to the '65 project truck that has fresh rotors with new bearings and seals and etc. The '65 has a front disc conversion kit on it, and by chance the rotors and bearings all fit the 81. So I packed a little more grease in the bearings, and now the 81 has new rotors with new bearings & races & grease. Some peace of mind now!

Yes sir. Can make a hell of a difference, especially in comfort.

At least you have power. Could have been much worse. Maybe a break for a few days might be a good idea.
