New radiator cap and ordered overflow jug from lmc. Took it for a spin to see what's open. Pretty much everything was closed.

I bought my rig about a year ago, it only had 34,000 original miles on it so it was in fairly good mechanical running condition when I bought it, but it the previous owner let it sit for several years before I bought it. I put in a new water pump, starter, battery, tires, thermostat, thermostat housing, PCV valve, O2 sensor, temperature sender/sensor. It is running amazing at this point and I drive it about every other day.

Next on deck is dealing with some interior issues. The interior was almost perfect when I bought it, but years of sitting outside in the summer heat, the fabric on the seat broke down and became very fragile on the front driver and passenger seat. I need to figure out if i'm going to get these existing seats redone or if I'm going to buy a new seats, I like the ones it has in it so I'm leaning towards getting these re-upholstered. I also need to deal with the cracked windshield, cracked dash, non-operating radio, and addressing the strong blowing, non-cold, AC.

Nothing fancy - oil change for me.

Was gonna try 10W40 - Wally World had none except syn, which for Goldie- umm, no.

Enough leaks as it is.:)

So, back to Castrol 20W50- just in time for cooler to cold weather.

Umm, yeah.

Oh, well - its fresh, with a hint of MMO.
Use 15w40

Did a timing set, oil pan gasket, oil pump, rear main and water pump. Still have to put on fan and belts and fill with oil.

I also replaced the old soft and swollen fuel line from pump to carb and from my clear filter to the pump

Dies Castrol make a 15W40 ? Did not think to look- had 2 numbers in the brain and that was it.
Yea, it's called Castrol Delvac. It's in the diesel motor oils, which is off to one side usually from the other oils. But it's better for the old engines anyways. It has more dinosaurs in it as Derek off Vice Grip Garage. But seriously it has more zinc in it that your other oils. If your running 20w50 it's no thicker.. actually thinner all the way around.

Pulled the harmonic balancer off cause it was spun and wonkey. Timing marks didn't line up. @Vbb199 convinced me to do it now instead of what my lazy ass wanted to do...down the road sometime. Glad I pulled it. Didn't even look but the seal had quite the groove cut into it. So it would need a repair kit at the least. Don't want to do all this work and have a dang leak I could of prevented. I'm impatient and going to buy local, all that you can get is cheap ones so I'm rolling the dice on a Dorman from Advance. We will see how this goes. Got a buddy down the road with lots of sbc parts and going to see if one of the ones he has laying around is good and grab one of those. I just want to get this thing running and hope I don't see oil shooing out of every gasket I touched:confused::Big Laugh:

Drove it to advanced auto to buy a deep pan for the th350 to keep it a bit cooler. I'm gonna change filter and atf so thought might as well get the extra 2qt pan while I'm at it.

Well, they couldn't help me for ****. Even after I pulled it up for her. So got tired of arguing so I left. Ordered me a shiny new one from Amazon for 30 greenbacks. Be here Thurs.

I’ve even had a counter jockey argue with me and straight up refuse to sell me a part for my truck because “it’s not for your truck”. I had made the mistake of asking for parts for an ‘06 z71 but the motor is actually out of an Envoy and I needed that power steering pump cuz the brackets are different. He wouldn’t sell it to me. So I left everything (probably $300 worth of odds and ends) right there on the counter and walked out. Went to another parts store that actually has a car guy working there and got what I could, ordered the rest online

ordered replacement window visors. While driving in the teens, I decided the spit bottle was full and cranked the window down enough to toss it in the bed. Needless to say my fist went through the frozen solid window visor and shattered it lol. Next time the bottle goes in the floor :)

I'd got his name, the managers name and the store number and threatened a complaint on all three. If you know what you need by golly they should sell it to you. Ida gone off and made sure others heard it. Can't stand that ****.

That was Autozone. They’re the scum, lowest of the low parts store anyway. It wouldn’t do any good. Only reason I even tried is because the others are much further out of the way.

I use to get annoyed with the “parts people” behind the counter. Most only know what the computer tells them. But anymore I like to have fun with them. If I’m get something engine related, of could the 1st thing asked is make and model. When engine asked the engine size, I say 383. That throws them off. Even last Tuesday getting a new battery, with the old one sitting on the counter, the young lady asked what’s it going in. Saying it goes under the bed of a ‘75 C10 didn’t help her any. The manager was grinning the whole time knowing all she had to do was just get the same battery that was in front of her.
This was at Auto Zone. 3 guys have the knowledge and skills to find or get what’s needed. O’Reillys has 4. I like spreading my business between the two.
