Rub it in...

It would have been a 77 Chevy Suburban in a perfect world, Cordova Brown with Bucksin in the middle, tan vinyl interior, and a tailgate, Trailering Special, and 3.73's.

Cheap azz dealer that ordered Goldie new didn't even go for the skid plates ...

:banghead:

At least they ordered the rear ac.
:D
Perfect woulda been!!

Checked the transfer case tonight on a lark. Top plug is full when it weeps out, right ?

Effin reddish gusher. Fut.

Could an overfull transfer case cause a weird noise at highway speeds ?

I know it can cause a hole in my pocketbook due to labor ...

Might have transmission fluid leaking into transfer case causing the over fill condition. Check transmission fluid level too

Yup - I think that is 100% the case.

Not worried about the NP205 as they are supposed to be bullet proof, but if an overfull condition can cause funny noises then problem located.

If not, new problem.

Either way, add it to the list.

Not sure what a 40 year old truck translates into people years  but I do know old people leak, too ...

Got my newest addition running smoothly (finally). Had replaced plugs, wires, all filters, rotor, etc... still couldn't get it to stop backfiring through the intake under load. Today I finally had time to straighten out the vacuum mess, check the mechanical advance, the vacuum advance and finally check timing. Found that the timing was 4 degrees off, reset it to 8 BTDC and man does she run smooth now.

I may be wrong, but I don't think the np205 takes atf, but gear oil. In which case, the mixing of the two may be problematic.

The later ones called for ATF. I'm not sure if running ATF in an older one would cause problems though.
