added 6 oz of seafoam to the oil. It's my daily driver so it'll be close to 300 miles next weekend and I'll change it, unless the oil is black before then.

It's about $7 for 16 oz. You can catch the 20 oz bottles on sale but you gotta buy 2 (autozone). Appears to have cleaned some stuff out. It wasn't as dark last week.

I'll continue doing this before oil changes. 5w-30 Full synthetic Amazon oil. Did some research and the numbers are close to Amsoil. Better than your typical brands believe it or not.

Forever sharp steering wheel/ hub. While I was in there I added the cruise control lever. This is the one that works with the 96+ truck cruise and doesn’t need relays to switch between normally open circuits and normally closed.

Bought the rear brake hose last night, PB Blastered the fittings last night, and again this morning. Big one won't come loose and is getting a little sloppy, so rather than completely fubar it I quit.

Even bought some metric Duralast flare wrenches today and still no love. Not metric flares - now I have some, tho.

Flare fittings and I = :gunner:

Who makes a good 3/8 - 7/16 combo flare wrench?

I might try one more time with a known good wrench before I completely abandon it to a full time wrench turner.

So, I said I might as well accomplish something, and did a gravity bleed on the brakes and topped off the oil, then topped off the gas.

At the absolute worst id use the tin snips and cut them at the fittings and change the hard lines too. Done it before, also resorted to splicing in a compresion fitting in an "inconspicuos" location.

May be what the pros wind up doing- looks like my efforts are starting to round the damn thing. :flamingdevil:

I hate these things.

On the plus side, this was an attempt at PM, so no emergency rush, and it is not leaking.

I might try again if I can get a 1st class flare wrench.

Did you try the vice grips clamped super tight on the fitting?

Snap-On Tools.

Someone once told me, "You will never be disappointed if you buy the best."

Yes very expensive, the wrenches and sockets are worth the money.

Note: 10mm sockets are not warranted for loss.

Guess what vanished a few months back when I was working on the lawnmower, in the driveway.

HOW?!

Yeah, but I just tapped on the end with a hammer hoping vibration would help move it.

Too bad parts stores don't sell upper end tools- not sure what a Snap On goes for, but I would probably try it.

That **** better have a beeper on it to find it if it wanders off, though...

In this case id go buy new line and cut it right at the fitting, put the socket on it and twist it loose. Just be easier.

More info on the cruise lever please! Where can I find one? Is it a factory lever from the early 80's or aftermarket?

I feel/felt your pain once or twice. New lines and cylinders using anti-seize fixed it.
