Spent the day cleaning gunk off the rear differential, Id'd it as a Dana 70HD with 3.73 ratio, limited slip. Going to open it up for inspection tomorrow and change fluid. Also installed fog lights!

Cut the roofless 74 GMC cab up to be used to save at least 3 squares.

Behind the seat was a set of Pioneer TS-55 speakers, anyone know anything about these? Seem to be fairly 'rare,' only a few examples online. One is a Japanese Yahoo auctions auction and the other was at an import car show in California in a 70's corolla.

Got the back of the cab and floor liberated from the firewall. The back and most of the floor will be used on my 79.

Brought the CUCV home from my workshop yesterday in anticipation of the snow storm that was supposed to hit. This was the furthest I have driven it since I bought it last year. Up unitl now it has just been around the parking lot. Seemed to do Ok. I did notice some minor things that I need to add to my "fix list".

I noticed a couple of loose bolts that I missed when installing the plow, so I tightened them up. Went to move it later and the plow wouldn't raise, wasn't getting any power. After replacing a couple of fuses I realised that there was a problem with the acc tap on the fuse block. It didn't seem to be getting much power, my circuit test light was very dim when testing the tap.

Since I had to go to work and didn't have time to chase down the problem, I wired the plow controls directly to the battery (with an inline fuse, of course). Bad idea. This morning I went out to clear the driveway, plow went up fine but wouldn't go down. It seems that wiring it directly to a constant power source instead of one switched to the ignition can cause it to burn up the up/down solenoid coil.

Luckily we didn't get the 12" that they were forecasting, and I could skip plowing today since I don't have time to chase down a part and fix it before I have to go to work.

Still need to figure our why the acc tap doesn't seem to be getting much power (didn't have my multi meter here to se exactly what it is getting).

No, luckily only about 4 inches. Did have a lot of wind that blew everything around. It's warming up and some of the snow is melting. Hopefully the plow will be ready for the next storm.

A new trip spring and set of hydraulic connectors came in yesterday. Have to work today, so I'll pull the pump tomorrow and see what I need to order for it.

Are you near Lead-Deadwood?

My friend lives at the Boars Nest on 14A outside Lead. Cool place.

You MUST hum the “Mission Impossible” theme going to bed at night. No offense, no disrespect, and all the admiration in the world. You are certainly taking the painful path.
