I drove the truck in to work today... A chance to stretch it's legs and get some exercise.

Also working on getting the hydroboost system from Pops in working order to install. Need to hit up a junk yard and see if I can find a few misc parts. Really contemplating buying a new seal kit for the sucker.

Didn't do anything physically to the truck, just in the parts collecting stages.

-Got new H4 replacement headlights and a wiring harness to draw directly from the battery.

-Picked up a SunPro 2 5/8" Super Tach to replace the non-working POS digital clock that was put in the truck way back when. I am hoping this might not even make it's way into the truck as I am hoping to score a tach cluster on Jan 2.

-Also got a nice spare tire from a guy to replace my rusty one and repainted the spare tire carrier and hardware.

Most of this stuff will most likely sit until spring time when it is warmer. The truck is resting comfortably in my dad's barn, and I have no plans of driving it until snow is gone for good next year.

Yes and no. Only need it if they catch it on the visual, which I doubt they will. After reading about it til my head hurt on thirdgen.com consensus is that it doesnt really do much. No real performance gained or lost...if anything it leans it out just a tad...considering Im running sooo rich Im gonna take a shot and chance it.

I know it doesnt sound logical taking it off after I failed, but the info Ive read says it wont hurt. Im not worried about passing the visual. The idler pulley will help.

Wont be going back to re-test till this thing is up and running again. Re-test is free within 60 days, so no real rush.

Air pumps are snake oil anyway.

Be careful when you buy a delete pulley, apparently there's more than one manufacturer. Several years ago I installed one on a '92, it worked perfect. It replaced the pump, used the same bolts, and had a grooved pulley too. But we just got one for my Buddy's '88 and it's a POS. It has a smooth pulley (which 'might' be OK for the 88's belt routing, but not the '92 routing) and uses different bolts to mount it. The problem is it eliminates one of the main bracket mounting bolts.

Ten Fo... I ordered mine up from Rock Auto...AC Delco, should be just what the Dr ordered. Plus is was by far the cheapest one available.

I did read about several guys getting the smooth pulley too...

I'm not convinced they are snake oil. Only way to tell is to do a sniffer test with and without one. What is snake oil about them, is the visual. All they want to see sometimes is that they are there and a belt hooked up. They don't test the diverter valves to see that they are functioning properly or not But, a proper working AIR system does work to reduce emmisions. Especially if you have a dual bed Cat and the 2nd bed gets it's air from the AIR pump.

That's a very basic and exaggerated example, but that's how my simple mind looks at it.

Yes, both will 4 parts exhaust fumes, but the car WITH the AIR will have less PPM of HC's in that exhaust. Reason being, as the exhaust exits the combustion chamber, it is immediately hit with a burt of air or O2. The oxygen hitting any unburnt fuels causes an immediate re-burn or any raw fuel. In a dual bed Cat Converter where air is injected into the 2nd bed of the converter, again, another reburn is created of anything leftover if it wasn't handled in the exhaust manifold, or the first bed of the Cat. That's the whole purpose of the A.I.R. (Air Injection Reactor) System aka Smog PUMP, that really doesn't PUMP air as most think. It does PUMP air, but it's not pumping exhaust or pollutants out of the exhaust system. It's more of an Injector Pump to add air to the exhasut system causing a re-burn of unspent gasses.

I installed a new OEM wiper motor to replace my old "demon possessed" one that only worked when it wanted to (The power of Christ compels you!!). The washer feature had stopped working years ago too. I then discovered the washer bottle was cracked so I replaced it with this NOS one I found.

AND...it all works and looks GREAT!! I had never bothered to try to replace the wiper motor due to the Haynes manual making it sound harder than it actually turned out to be. I had done something similar to my 1973 Dodge Charger and 1973 Plymouth Satellite so I was not looking forward to it.
There was a foam ring type of washer thing that was with FRANKENTRUCK's old wiper motor. I did not reinstall it due to it being so dry rotted and useless-looking. The new one did not come with one either. I wonder where I will end up finding one?
