okay...okay...finally got around to posting pics for kong....

Patched up the holes created by rust, welded in metal patches and applied some body filler.

I am keeping the 50 plus years of rust...aka patina on the front bumper and grill. Some people may be opposed to keeping it. This project is going a different direction than the last.

And some more...

The truck is almost back to the oem orange color after spending hours sanding off the crappy metallic navy blue that someone applied.

It's definately "farm fresh"...there was a **** ton of dust, pebbles and God only knows what else covering oil and grease under the truck. I spent hours scraping the underside so I could drop the transmission pan, rear diff cover and bleed the brakes without fear of another trip to the ER digging metal or other debris out of my eye.

All of that crud was caked on for so long, in some sections I had to pre soak with degreaser and use a air chisel to remove it. I think that I removed about 10 pounds of it.

I think we are going to refer to this truck as "Gramps"

I have aleady been doing research on full air ride. I may possibly "Z" the front frame section as well. It is uncharted territory for me, but it is something that I have always wanted to add to my repertoire.

On them don’t you just shove the inside handle down to lock it on the inside? It’s been a while since I played with one of them.

Hmmm...idk. I have to check that out...makes sense.

I tuned the motor up (inline 6 230cuin)...runs nice and smooth. After three days of completely re-wiring the truck and finally working out the bugs, all of the lights work. Damn bad grounds on the tail lights kept intermittently working, then not working. I had to establish all new grounds. I need a few interior pieces...horn button, rearview mirror, sideview mirror and the heat/vent door controls. With GoodGuys this weekend and my square on display, hopefully I will have good luck sourcing parts while we are there. I could mail order, but I am not looking for new parts.
