Yep, that's on topic. So you're saying yours has sat for 7 years?

yeah. My dad bought it for a project truck, put a rebuilt 350 in it, then his back went to he'll in a hand basket so he couldn't do any work on it and didn't want to pay anyone else to do it. He didn't even start the new engine.

Fast forward 7 years, I'm finally out of the military and looking for a truck for the winter. Dad says when we get it on the road I can buy it. I've been going to work on it every weekend and some since since july trying to get it going. In july dad said all it needed was plus and wires. Then it's "oh yeah, it also needs this too." Next thing you know I'm damn near replacing almost everything he "fixed" because he bought old worn out crap from the scrapyard.

Now it has a new radiator, new water pump, new edelbrock performer carb, new intake manifold, new headers, new exhaust, new clutch, and old worm out mudding tires. Gods those are annoying. Loud a hell on the road.

Lovely, and then when you get it all safe, sound and sanitary the price will go up. I'm thinking dad knew what he was doing. Sounds like you might have negotiated a deal FIRST since with every repair the price is going up.

Turned out good.

Gotta love the park job. Can't park in the street on the curb cuz it's a fire lane, so Fugg it, we'll just park on the sidewalk !!!

I cheat like a **** too in the roll back. I park at the grocery store in the fire lane right up front. It won't fit in a standard parking lot, and I normally am in and out in less than 5 minutes. It would take me 5 minutes to hike in from the North 40 so I park in the Tow Away Zone. :roflbow: Who they gonna call to tow me? ME !!! And being we work with both the Fire Dept and the Police Dept, I'm not skeered. They know who drives that truck and who owns it.

Luckily, no. My mom got an inheritance when my grandma died, so she gave the money to my brother to pay off the loan he got with my dad as a co-signer, then my dad signed the title over to me and all i've paid for is the money in parts i put into it. so, i got a truck for about $1000, my brother got a free car, and dad got paid back the 4700 my brother owed him. all in all i'd say i made out pretty good. i'll tell ya though, driving this thing is HUGELY different that driving my 85 corolla. rwd, lightweight, high revving, it's the total opposite of this truck. upside is that no matter what speed i'm at, i can give her some go pedal and the power is there! i love it! until i gas it up again... :bawl:

Yeah, they seem to like gas as much as we like driving them.

My Nephew came over yesterday and knocked the dent out of the drivers door, it looked so bad I thought I'd have to replace the door, now I think I can save it.

I also ordered a new battery tray and a door hinge pin set for the drivers door.

Replaced a cracked exhaust manifold, put the turn signal cancel cam back where it's supposed to go (previous owner had it 180* out, which, consequently, meant the steering wheel was upside down too...), and I installed an 88-94 steering wheel. Now I can drive in peace and quiet, and my blinkers turn themselves off.

Oh, I also got the horns working and replaced some fuses with the correct rating. PO was dumb...

1) 25 amp fuse in a 15 amp slot
2) 30 amp fuse in a 20 amp slot
3) 30 amp fuse in a 25 amp slot
4) 20 amp fuse in a 15 amp slot

Finally got my tank selection solenoid hooked up minus the activation wire... That last part will happen when I get a new terminal for the auxiliary tank. Then it'll be an official dual tank set up. This week sometime if all goes well. Still have to drop the primary tank and change out the sending unit so I can get fuel levels off of both tanks.

It looks better in pictures than it really is; I've been meaning to find one in better condition. It's starting to get spider-webbing cracks through the "leather". I guess this is the deluxe version of the wheel.

Here is a pic of it when it was in my 87'
