Got the new motor set in, took me and two friends an embarrassing amount of time to get the motor mounts to line up. Now on to electrical and plumbing for the next few days, hoping it’ll make noise Saturday.
Love the serpentine belt setup!

Bad leak from my saginaw transmission. So pulled side cover to get to shift fork seals. Both were gone. 2-3 different from 1-R. New o-rings installed and back together. Inside looks OK. used fluid extractor to get oil at bottom (no lower drain plug). Filled with Redline MTL.

Going to put in new motor mounts today.

Got a builder to assemble short block of the new 350 engine.

New wiper arms with squirters and 18" blades. Just have to get some hose connectors so I can test the washer pump. Also finally replaced the broken turn signal switch.

Tried to replace the motor mounts under my 6 cylinder today. Drivers side, first Nut underneath just spun with the bolt. As that was the first of 6 bolts, and this mount looked really bad, I think someone bailed on this repair some time ago. I bailed too. Will have to wait for the new motor. Glad I didn't have more torn apart before it told me it wasn't coming out. Two top bolts shown in the picture. The one out of sight, underneath was the problem.

Did you put in a replacement for the back window(sliding glass) or just refurbish the mechanism??

head or field points mate well to the cartridge neck. Whole process took minutes. 30 06 would also work. Redrill the arrow tip receiver to 9/64,tap to match the 10 24 door rod. Swage neck w/ flaring tool.

Recently replaced the dash pad on mine. Being a former Fire Truck, the dash was full of holes where radios andvarious devices had been installed. Nice to have that done, cause that's what you see constantly see when you're out driving around. Much better now.

And to think that was one of the nicest old 70s or 80s original dash pads out there, save for a bunch of intentional holes in it…
Hard to believe they weren’t thinking resale 40 years ago for their destined to be a classic fire truck! Lol
