More idiocracy......

So I got a response from Draw Tite's tech yesterday about my modding the hitch to fit the full sized spare. They said it would be fine for 'anything I wanted to haul within the specs of the hitch.' Fking A.

Here is a REALLY basic mock up of the side plate I'm using to comp for the most forward hole I cut off of the hitch. I removed two 9/16" original mount bolts from under the frame, upped the remaining 6 to 5/8 and then added 8 more 5/8' bolts horizontally. Still going to make some 1/4" thick washer-plates for the backside.

The plate is 3/4" thick milled to 1/4" on the top half (bottom is a 1/2 step) so it mounts flush on the sides of the hitch and frame. Will look much better when its powder coated and the hitch is trimmed (and re-powder coated also).

Purchased this very complete Realistic TRC-421 CB from a hole in the wall 2nd hand shop for the '84. Marked $10, got it for $5. Has PA feature so I can hook it up and talk smack to the tourists for doing 10 under, lol.

I do believe I bought the same model at a Goodwill a while back. Haven't tried it out yet though.

In my fantasy world, I’d love to repeat that scene in The Hangover. “Ma’am in the leopard dress, you have an amazing rack.”

Or countless scenes in Smokey and the Bandit. My dad was a car carrier truck driver for years. I think once he let me get on it when I was a kid, but I was young and it’s a hazy memory. I do know his handle was Old Crow.

Nice work btw, I’d love to get a CB and learn how to use one .

Started fixing the floors in the Blazer. Needs to be trimmed a bit more but I think it's going to work.

Finally got the front redone. Did new Moog control arms, ball joints, pitman arm, idler arm and sway bar bushings. Used Proforged and replaced all the tie rods. Put on new hubs, rotors, calipers, and brake pads from Napa. It took 2 weekends and many trips to the store and a good bit of money, lol. I reinstalled the original HD springs but replaced the shocks with KYBs. Used an internal coil spring compressor that made it a lot safer. Was a lot of work but I’m so happy with the result! I’m keeping everything stock, want it to stay original.

1980 Gmc C20 camper special, HD chassis.
