Well I attempted to get mine out today to take to a local show this evening. Brake pedal straight to the floor. Slid the cover back on and will deal with it another day.

At least it decided to have a brake failure in the garage instead after I started down the road with it.

This may have been a mistake because I have had many wonderful conversations about The Truck that started with a single question. People always ask me, "What year is that Truck?"

I did this because all too often at car shows I don't know exactly what year something is and I find myself wishing for SOMETHING to clue me in.

got the truck back from paint. Well I got a $500 paint job for sure. Was planning on buffing out the orange peel, but there's enough trash in the paint to not bother. Live and learn. I'll put pics up later.

Today I'm assembling the passenger door guts. Hopefully get that and the door harness installed in the cab today or tomorrow so I can start driving it again.

I started disassembly of the rear end to day in preparation for the disc brake conversion. I was a bit surprised when I started taking the rear end apart. I got the rear end 20 something years ago in trade for some work I did. It has sat outside since I've had it, who knows how long it sat outside before I got it. I guess I should have check to see if there was oil in it...there wasn't!

My question to the group is...Should I try and clean this one up, or should I try and find another 14 bolt. The other side is in much better shape. I can only imagine the ring and pinion are shot. Which I already had plans on re-gearing to match the front.

The bearing surfaces and nut threads on the housing tube look okay. You'll just need to glue on a speedy sleeve where the seal surface is. Use #2 Permatex, good to go.

Do y'all think the Axle shaft would be fine to just wire wheel it?

First, you need a good parts guy. All the part houses can get them, but will they go to the trouble for cheap part?

Advantage I have working on a fleet, we buy lots of parts = lots of money. So they will take the time to help. Do you have a NAPA store near you?

If you can't get one, give me the measurement from the good side, and I'll get you one.
