Don't look like much. But got the remaining wet sanding and polishing done on everything but the hood yesterday.
Truck is officially ready to be re-assembled!
Note to self (and others). In my patchwork painting process, I left myself nasty paint lines between the 2 colors on the cab. No problem on the bottom as it will have the chrome trim over it. The top line though, would have showed through the pinstripe. After pondering how to knock down that ridge of clearcoat without damaging any of the other finish, I bought a roll of magnetic strip, an inch wide. Was able to lay that down on the body as a template to run a very thin sanding block off of. Worked great. Cost me $11 at Amazon and another few hrs of sanding, but no damage to the finished areas.

I have to post to page 1000 of this thread. LOL. I was going to install a new ignition coil that I received in the mail today until I opened the box. I'm disappointed that they shipped it in a bag and not a cardboard box.

Looked under the bed to figure out what it's going to take to get the bed off. Looks like I installed the bed, then the rear 'burb tank. So I'll have to drop the tank to remove it. While there I noticed the rust holes on the cross sills and tail pan. Still going through the math, but it may be cheaper for me to buy a complete bed floor as compared to parts and paying a welder to put them on the existing floor.....more to come....

Also noticed copper radiators on FB market place for our trucks under $50 in my area. I've got a radiator shop close by, it'd be worth it to me to have a spare. Looking at $100 total after cleaning/pressure testing/repair.

Big block!!! It's the 'end all' answer for any big truck that does any towing. You can even do 8.1L which is like the "LS" of big blocks.
True...True on the Big Block. What's that old saying? "There's No Replacement...for Displacement"

From left to right, those are complete sets off an 85, a 79, and a 74. Let me know which one you want.

Well it's not too bad. I think 3950 is a bit high. The motor has over 153k. It will need to be rebuilt in the near future. It's a Gen IV 454 so parts are available. The body isn't in bad shape. The 2WD isn't a deal killer. I assume you just need the motor. So plenty of good resalable parts. I'd really think about it. I would talk the guy down, he's asking too much for a truck that isn't that popular. If it was 4x4 it would be a different story. I would try to get it for around 3K or lower. I can give you a list of things I see wrong just from the pics that you could use to talk him down.

Considering the paint is crap I'd offer 3K or walk. Other than that it does appear to be pretty clean and unabused. 154K miles ain't too bad if it's had regular maintenance.
