What fluid stains do your daily drivers leave?

Daily driver - none. Which is a surprise since it is a 2015 with 85k miles. My wife's daily is a 2013 with 159k and doesn't have any leaks either.

The square only has one and it's the oil drain bolt. I can live with it until next oil change and put a new one in.

GM makes a funky looking washer for the oil drain plug. Guaranteed to stop leaks.

A lot of people die from lead poisoning doing that around here. Must be something about those fluids.
Lol, yeah I guess I can see that happening. I generate pretty good revenue from that dump of a neighborhood, though.

I was just going to say that a good way to deal with people like that is to just smash their head up into the frame or open the door on them.

My 07 Forester, not a drop.
91 Cherokee, occasional coolant, or power steering. No rhyme or reason to why each leaks, they just do on a whim. Can see spots from both, or one on a day, then nothing for a week or so.
The 81, only seems to leak when it sits for weeks at a time. Daily drive it and not a drop.
Crusty Biscuit, only coolant after hours of driving and turning off the engine, as there is no coolant overflow

My 09 Cobalt has a cracked head, going vertically from the valve cover gasket surface down to the bottom, not really wanting to put a $10 saddle on a $2 horse, adding a quart or so a day is the answer (70 mile round trip daily)

76 doesn't leak anything noticeable, so far the Dart has contained its fluids.

My 05 silverado daily with 250k has zero leaks, wife's 09 saturn aura with 240k has zero leaks. Ole Bessie my '87 has seepage from the power steering gear box, I have corrected all other leaks during my near 20 years owning her

Haha, that makes a lot more sense. I was gonna say, if I were only so lucky to have 5 year old vehicle I'd be furious if it started leaking oil in my driveway

Even if you're buying bargain no-name oil at $3 a quart, pissing through that much every day you could easily afford a junkyard head and a cheapo gasket set after a couple months. Skip the machining if you really don't care and just want to be cheap, it'll be better than a cracked head that bleeds oil. Unless you're just counting the last few days until you scrap it or something, but it's a 10 year old car, besides the cracked head how bad can the rest of it be?

It's not terrible, but its certainly beat up (not from me), every body panel is scratched and dented, hood and quarter is starting to rust, needs a new engine harness as neither the front nor rear cam position sensors or downstream O2 work, suspension needs new bushings. The engine itself runs well and gets driven hard and puts up with it. Its served its duties with my family for the 6 years we have owned it.

I'm not opposed to finding a junkyard head, but the downtime is the big thing to me, if I start Friday night it needs to be ready Sunday night.
But the way things are looking with CV picking up again, might be going online for school again which negates my 60 mile commute, then just the 7 mile round trip to work.

The plan is to get the dart going and legal and drive it instead.

My 06 Ram drips nothing, 200k and I hope it stays dry under there for a long time! I hear horror stories of the old 12 valve Cummins leaking oil everywhere. Old timers say if a 12 valve doesn’t leak oil, you need to add some.

My 02 neon does occasionally “mark its territory” but it’s a tiny drip, doesn’t even amount to enough to add oil between oil changes. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!


Number 2 stepdaughters 05 Grand Prix is also drip free. Typical GM corporate thinking, they finally get an engine that is easy to work on, gets excellent mileage, and has a well known reliability reputation, and it becomes obsolete and replaced with crap.

My wife’s ‘19 Cherokee is also drip free, it better stay that way for a long time to come. Even after the warranty is up, I hate to work on cars I’m still making payments on!!


For some reason, my Olds tends to leave a pair of long black marks on the pavement. It’s kinda strange, the evidence has to be coming from something, but it’s always dry under the car. I’m not too concerned about the cause, but I do enjoy it when it does happen.

My thoughts on this is the cause of those black stripes may be from adrenaline leak making the right foot press heavy on the accelerator pedal. This is a normal condition for car guys
