What engine color? and Will a 14inch filter fit?

My engine is out of a 1970 Chevelle and its blue would that be Chevy blue or GM blue? And can I fit a !4 inch air cleaner? Thanks guys!

70 should be orange don't think blue came along till 1977.

Hmm... Was that the Chevelle's original engine, or was that original engine repainted? I thought they were Chevy Orange at that time and switched to GM Corporate Blue a few years later. I think Chevy Blue was from the years immediately preceding the release of the SBC.

Original Engine just repainted is my guess. And the 14inch air cleaner? If so can you send me a picture of the one you have casue I really don't know which one I want, afraid it'll change the truck too much. And does anyone know where I can get one of those Direct air intake hose/tubes?

You can run a 14" after market air cleaner on a Quadrajet as long as you are using a flat base air cleaner. (I believe the factory diesel air filter for a 6.2 is a 14"x4".) If not, you will need about a 2" spacer. On my '79 I used a factory air cleaner base, but switched to the taller 80's era lid. It is 2" taller than the factory lid for 73-80. You will need the correct filter to go with it. I purchased my snorkel through LMC Truck.

FYI, my truck ran better with this set up in hot weather than the open element air cleaner. I did have to adjust when the secondaries would open though. If you look at the LMC diagram, I cut off the end cap of the inlet cover. I did get some more bugs in the air filter, but it gives you more of a ram air set up.

Thanks man!!! I really didn't want an open fil on my truck and just wanted to get a high performance filter and snorkel for mine cause well, my truck wouldn't look good with it.
