I know it's Silver metallic, but seams a little darker. Is is graystone?

It's a 78 by the way. Could take a pic of the ash tray color if that helps. That's the only thing I haven't stripped and primed

My '78 Burb was originally silver too, it's a darker shade of silver. My '79 K30 was originally silver too and was a lighter shade of silver, as was my old '79 K5. However, they all share the same paint code. GM reused the same code even if the paint color changed from year to year.

is there more to the RPO label that has a we wa code? i believe this is it and a link to the paint cross reference..

There are no we or wa codes on the RPO. Just that 17P silver metallic. I looked it up online and one site said medium graystone. I just don't understand why it would say silver metallic when that same site had a 14 for that paint code. My paint was a little darker than what I can see is the silver metallic

The noun name for any RPO (not just paint codes) can vary a bit between final assembly locations. Sounds like whatever plant yours was built in missed the naming by a smidge.

The pic of the G Van and SPID with the 17 code seems pretty conclusive.

Yeah, my color is a bit darker. It seems like the same paint code can be a different color and a different name year to year

Mine is s bit darker too. The exterior is primer, but the interior still has the dark silver everywhere.

That's the same color scheme as my truck, and I'd say they silver is a perfect match. I found a ppg paint chip sheet from 78 that looks like my color with the proper code. I wonder if different plants used different paint suppliers so you could have different colors of the same year with the same code?
