My first time to clean a carb. Used my new sonic cleaner. So far so good. But. First thing that happened was I was taking that tiny little clip that holds on the linkage to the accelerator pump off. Well well well. It went flying. LOL. Ran a big magnet over my garage. I found every nail I lost over the past 36 years. I replenished my screw box. But no clip. Oh well. I’ll get one from somewhere. I’ll get it back together. I’ll install the electric choke and get the clip. My fuseable link has not made it yet. So doing stuff that needed to be done.

If you don’t have one get one. Put it back together. I do hope I don’t have any left over parts. I just pretend I didn’t see that. LOL

Yep looks like the horse shoe one. But last night I had to take the bar out again. Lost another one. So I said time to stop I was tired. So last ditch effort on my knees with a magnet going side to side for a few minutes. And looked at the magnet. Both were on it. I thanks God. Put the magnet on the bench and shut off the lights off and went inside.

Those things are ruthlessly easy to lose. I’ve taken to removing them with a fine pair of needlenose pliers very carefully and having a magnetic parts holder/bowl close by.

O’Reillys and Autozone usual have a smattering of Edelbrock stuff laying around, you can check if they have any. Better yet, purchase a calibration/tuning kit with the needles and jets, it’ll have some in there I believe and you’ll also be able to fine tune things after you’re done with the rebuild.

Thanks Chuck but I was out here this morning and it found my magnet LOL. Below where I am sitting. Here is what I used to put them in this morning after the fine nose needle nose that squirted them out. Get them at medical supply places. The carb is now back in piece. I’ll check it out once my fuseable li Ms get here and I get her to turn over again

You lost one of the "Jesus" pins. When you lose it you yell out "Jesus Christ", and a few other choice words...
Most carb kits have a couple of them, or maybe a "C" clip. Good luck.
Or a "$hit!" Clip

Okay this is going to sound totally bizarre, but. Taking something apart, first time, inexperienced, take it apart in the bathtub, shower curtain closed, drain plugged, surprises are easy to find. A customer told me that at least 20 years ago, no bathtub at the shop, but for an average guy at home it's good advice.

With my luck the clip or spring would bound up into tub spigot or find its way down the overflow slot...lol...

It'll be lying next to your missing 10mm socket when you find it.
