Hey guys, I've been redoing my dash and AC ducting and instrument panel, and when we took off the light bulb holders, we didn't pay attention to where this weird one with the tube on it went. I was searching online and saw one similar, but it had these black wires or hoses attached to it and mine doesn't. Was hoping someone could tell me what this is and where it goes and if mine should have wires attached to it too. Thanks!

It goes into one of the bulbs on your dash. I keep thinking one behind the Speedo but could be wrong. That' little tube thingy is supposed to have a fiber optic cable on it that goes over to illuminate the ash tray.
The cable was definitely a first gen type rendering of we know of today's fiber cable and was marginally effective but it did work.

I figured it would. It comes our above the ashtray through a little black plastic holder.

My 85 had that. The fiber cable is black with a yellow tracer. It took me 30 minutes of probing that bitch with my multimeter before I realized what it was. I was confused that an 8 inch piece of "wire" didn't have continuity. WTF!?
Ahhh.... live and learn..
