A side support from the guard. Traced onto cardboard and pencil adjustments made.

Template cut out. Winch will be closer to grill by 3" and winch plate will be 6" higher.

Side support removed. As you can see the guard sits too low and covers the license plate...illegal in ND. Plus I just don't really like the look.

Template mocked up to the actual grill. I'm liking how its going to look. A welding shop will cut it out of 1/2" steel and punch the holes.

So... Are you modifying it for a better, closer fit? If that the case then I like the idea, I don't like winch mounts that hang way out in front.

I just picked up an old Warn/Belleview winch, I`m a going to mount to the front of Mine 79 so, I`ll be watching this fabjob.

Mod done

The shop cut out the template in 1/2" steel, I primed & painted with engine paint. Most things lined up. I was 1/4" off the bottom hole of the brush guard which interfered with the light. But I got the look and functionality I wanted. Hello license plate and it sits back almost 5".

That looks great, but then again I just like the whole truck in general. I like rollbars and extra lights on these trucks.
