Copper/Brass radiator wanted for a 1979 manual trans, non AC C10 with a 305. All that I have been able to find locally have the provisions for the auto trans cooling and I really want to find one from a manual trans truck if possible.

Thanks

I never realized that they made two different PNs for different transmissions. Logic would dictate that they would make them all the same, and then plug off the trans cooling ports for a manual trans?

I'm not sure if it was a 100% all the time difference, but there were and are a lot of rads with no provision for a trans cooler.

To the op, check out summit.

If I recall, only original factory radiators were different for a stick shift. If you could get them back in the day, dealers never stocked them. When work had the stick squares 3500 GMC's with PTO's, the replacement radiators had the trans cooler.

I believe that. I was mainly talking about oem equipment, and the aftermarket these days. Summit does have copper/brass radiators, I believe I saw some with no trans cooler. I know the aftermaket Aftermarket radiators you can get pretty much any variation.

I bet there would be a light cost difference as the no trans cooler rads, would have been less common, and most likely more expensive, if available at all.

even my trucks 3 core here must have come with an AC or truck with an oil cooler in the rad(Or car) the harrison numbers on the one side still are there I guess I could check, you can expand your search in years and models since cars came with the same dimensions of rads if you look right

YOu arent going to find many if any new radiators that you seek but do you really need to lack the provision? You can just not use it :\
also the tank is going to be the same size anyway since the heater most likely still flowed to the driver side.

Just as a clarification, I am really looking to find an original manual transmission radiator due to the originality of my truck and trying to keep it as close as possible to that condition. I am hopeful that my factory radiator can be repaired. But, I am looking for a backup just in case.

Thanks in advance for your help in this search.

You're best bet would be trying to have yours by a reputable shop, and keep on the hunt for a good one. Good luck.

Theres a truck at my junkyard right now, 79, c10, manual trans, no AC, that has a brass radiator. Say the word, and I can get it. Not sure how to ship it.

Don't know where you're at in PA, but if Ayden can get it to me, I'll haul it up to W. PA on my way to Rochester in April. I go up I-79 to avoid Cleveland metro mess. If you're in Central or E. PA, my son lives and works in Bath, NY. I could meet you there or just leave it for you to fetch on your own schedule.

I am in western PA approx 45min south of Pittsburgh, about equal distance from Morgantown WV. I also have in laws in Binghamton NY, just north of Scranton PA. One of my best friends also lives in Newark NY, not far from Rochester. That would be an option also if we couldn't meet anywhere else.

This is what makes this site one of the best on the net. Thanks to all of you!!!

Well I could buy it and take it home, maybe find a way to ship it to Mike, because he's alot closer, and he could drive it to you. That might work.

If you want it, let me know, and I'll go pay for it tomorrow, so it doesn't disappear.
I dont need it per se, but it doesn't mean I wont someday. So if I do buy it, and you deside you dont want it, I don't mind keeping it.

I definitely want it and I so appreciate your effort to go through the leg work for me. Once you get it, if you can find a way to get it boxed up and shipped, I will be happy to cover those costs. If that isn't possible, then we will go through the process with Mike.

Again, I thank you so much for all of this!!. We can work out the payment details via PM or text. I'll definitely make it worth your while.
