Vin/data tag replacement lettering

Not sure where to put this, so here it is.
Does anyone know of a company that reproduces the black lettering on the vin/data plate for my 78?
I really want to clean the tag up but in doing so I know it will remove the printed info.
And If it's not reproduced ( I've been looking and have come up with nothing.) is there a way to some how make a copy of it and print it on some sort of iron on decal paper or something?
What do ya think?

Any sign company should be able to make you an ink transfer plate... basically they can scan the current one, then print an ink transfer sheet. You clean the hell out of the plate and prep it to take paint, then place the sheet right on top and it transfers the print onto the clean plate, then you clear coat over the whole thing to preserve it

I have the name of a place that reproduces the tag for around $200. You have to provide pictures of the tag like you have and a copy of the title in your name. The rivets are $60 so you'll be in to it for $300 if you want to go the all new route.
