Hi guys, a while back, I picked up a '96 K3500 DRW that's running a Gen 6 454 / NV4500 to a DRW 14-bolt newer style rear axle. I originally bought it as a drivetrain donor but I want make sure I'm not missing any other useful components before I send it to the scrapper.

Other than the engine, transmission, transfer case, and rear axle, what else might be worth trying to pull for my Squares? I have a '78 K30 (utility bed), '79 K10, '73 K20, and an '89 K3500 C&C (flatbed).

Imho, pull anything that's still decent and usable. The 90's trucks and parts are getting hard to come by as well. There's people fixing them up now.

Yup the OBS big trucks are getting more popular as people realize how capable they are, and how easy to work on, vs. newer trucks. Count me in that club....

Any body parts that aren’t rusted or smashed up.
Don’t seem like much in the PNW but rust free panels on 30-40 year old vehicles are rare in some parts of the country. And with the age and popularity of gmt400s now used OE sheetmetal is pretty valuable.

Yup the last year or so I've noticed fewer OBS trucks in the local yards in greater Houston area. I went today, to get parts for my CCLB, and they probably had a dozen or less of them in the whole 31 rows of trucks. People aren't scrapping them, they're using them for parts trucks.

I used the fuel pump, fuel lines, wiring harness, vapor canister, radiator, radiator lower support, trans cooler, windshield washer tank, secondary battery tray, overflow tank, and a few other odds and ends when I did my swap. I bought the donor for $500 and sold ~$1000 worth of parts off it while I was pulling the parts I wanted. Then I sold the rest of the shell to a guy ot take to scrap for $150 and he came with a trailer and drug the remains off.
