I just picked up an 85 c20. Slowly getting to learning more about the truck. It recently Started making a clicking noise from a relay under the dash. I think it could be part of the steering but not positive. I have attached a photo of the relay, I’m not sure if it is typical relay or the clear cylinder electrical part I presume to be some sort of fuse or relay. Any help appreciated.

That looks like your conscience center. The round relay is your hazard relay. There two; the blinker relay is on the fuse box. I’d say that black relay is probably a horn relay.

(yes I shamelessly stole this diagram)

The black box is the horn relay. If it’s clicking with no horn, either there is another fuse blown, defective or unplugged horns, or a defective relay.

What are the odds the truck has an aftermarket steering wheel? I bet you find the reason the relay clicks is in the steering column, more specifically in the horn button.

Temporary unplug the turn signal switch at the base of the column. Keep in mind, with that unplugged you have no brake lights or turn signals (obviously). If the clicking stops, you know the issue is in the column.

Pop off the horn pad, check the horn button wire. If that’s good, pull the steering wheel and inspect the turn signal switch and wires. If that’s good, replace the switch.

What if he doesn't have a conscience.

Thanks all. Found a loose wiring harness when I took the steering column apart. Clicking stopped and good to go!
