I recently bought a harbor freight ultrasonic cleaner to clean small engine carburetors. I started finding all sorts of new uses for it until it took a crap a week after I got it. I returned it with the intention of getting a metal one that is slightly bigger. I have been looking at the 6L VEVOR and also possibly the 15L. The 6L seems like a more practical size, but I'd like to know if it would be big enough to clean a 4bbl carb. Does anyone have one of these that can give their input?

You need a big one to clean a 4bbl carb 15 liter at the minimum.

IIRC, Harbor Freight sells 2 different sizes. All the reviews I seen, both work well. Of course neither are big enough to drop a complete carb in. I have buddies that use them sonic cleaners for cleaning their brass to reload now instead of tumblers with aggregates.

At that point is it even worth having my own? That seems extremely big to have sitting around. Would it just be easier to get a smaller one and leave the full size carburetors for someone else to sand blast or clean?

I have one I bought for cleaning brass for reloading. Mediocre at best. A commercial one might work for carbs thought. I miss that stuff from the 1960’s. It cleaned EVERYTHING!

the ultra sonic cleaners are worth it and awesome and if you do buy one i recommend using a mixture of dawn and pine sole it really gets the crud and nasty crap out of parts.

^ I am with Jake. Pinesol and Dawn is a great combo even for just letting parts soak in.

Old post but thought I'd share as I've got a 20 gallon unit. A guy did some testing of various stuff on yewtube and Cascade was 2nd best, but best bang for buck. 23:06 on the video for the comparison chart.

He's got dollar signs in the Qty/Fill column which threw me off for a few minutes, disregard the $ signs. In other words for example, he used 4 cascade pods or 3 gallons of Zep.

I used dawn in mine with no heat and was very happy. Wish I'd seen this before.

He's got a 2nd video, but he changed up his scaling, measurements, and such. If it were me, I'd at least had added a few of the others to the 2nd test for a truer comparison.

The carb warehouse I worked for tell their customers, if you do not SONIC CLEAN you carb, dont ask for refunds when our kits do not work.

We have a 16 gallon at work. I bought the Harbor Freight one.
It will fit all motorcycle carbs, Holly 94s & Rochester 2bdls.

Use Aircraft grade Simple Green. Its the only sonic cleaner soap that will NOT stain raw aluminum.
