So I recently bought a 1984 c30 dually. It didn't have any working lights apart from the headlights, so i checked the fuses first. Running light and back up/turn signal fuses were blown, i found shorts in the trailer harness under the rear bumper. After removing the shorts i no longer have to replace the fuses every couple minutes but now when I turn on either turn signal all of the running lights flash. That includes the roof lights, tailgate lights, dually hip marker lights, reverse lights, and the brake/running lights. I tested the connector at the rear end and all four pins are receiving turn signal power. So I pulled the instrument cluster and found the wires coming from the turn signal switch, yellow for left and green for right. When either turn signal is on both the yellow and green wire are powered, not just one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you inspect bulbs, sockets and grounds at the front running/turn signal lights?
It may be voltage finding an alternate path to ground.
It also may be in the steering column, the turn signal switch itself or the wires running down through the column to the connector.

Its a never-before-seen feature where your intention to turn is just enhanced. THey forgot to isolate it to one side tho, but hey, hazzards???

on serious, does hazzard do the same?

Kev, both of those ideas make sense. I checked the housing in the rear but never thought about fronts, I'll have to check them

AuroraGirl, as far as i know the hazards only do turn signal lights but that would be cool if they all flashed. I joked with my friends that no one uses turn signals anyway so i dont need them
