@SirRobyn0 @sidschev … I think the banging was popping into the exhaust, on passenger side, but it also has vacuum problem. PO really screwed this thing up.

These initial pics are what cap and rotor looked like when I replaced them.

The last two pics are what I found as far as vacuum problem. I am assuming those are manifold vacuum ports? I don’t even know where they go. I put the screw in so you could see what I’m talking about. It had an old cracked cap on it and I accidentally broke it off when checking it.

I’m going to:
Plug the manifold ports.
Add 1” riser since I guess you are supposed to when going from q-jet to Edelbrock.

Check vacuum again and see what happens.

@Dano500 I'm not trying to be difficult but as I said before without being able to hear it we are all just guessing. Firing in the exhaust manifold I suppose could be described as "banging". If it came up after the tune up I still question the firing order. Obviously a bad valve could cause that as well. Lean mixture is generally back firing in the intake, but sometimes exhaust. IDK if any of that is really helpful, but I still suggest recording the noise if you can.

Not at all, I definitely understand, I’m just going with the simplest solution first. It doesn’t make sense that the banging wasn’t there pre-tune up and just suddenly appeared when it’s not even being driven. Maybe the tune up enhanced the vacuum problem and I was mistaken hearing the exhaust pop in the manifold… IDK. Once I clear vacuum and A/F problem, I’ll record the banging if it’s still there, but hopefully it won’t be.

Up and running and feels much stronger and shifts crisp. Sorry to make everyone bang their heads trying to help, but it did end up being crossed wires, AFTER I thought I had checked them twice.

Next problem. Lol I don’t have anything connecting carb to trans. Is that called kick down cable?

I really appreciate all the time you guys took out to help me.

What transmission is in your truck? Th350 uses a kick down cable, Th400 uses an electric switch for kick down, 700r4 uses a TV, or throttle valve cable.

That’s good that it’s a th350, because a 700r4 with no tv cable is not a good thing.

On the th350 the kickdown cable comes out of the case right ahead and below the cooler lines, passenger side.

On the carb side of things, depending on the carb and intake, can vary what brackets may be required along with what is the appropriate hole on the carb linkage to use for the th350

@legopnuematic tbh, I don’t even know if the vacuum line is there. I was going to check today, but it was tooo cold here today.

I just realized that I have the 400, so I actually do have the electric switch on driver side, but I still have to check vacuum line. I’d like to take it in the highway, so I want to make sure all is good.
