No. My dad had the engine rebuilt, but I doubt he ever properly broke it in and he lugged it everywhere. Apparently he was afraid to rev it passed 1,000, I don't know. He basically starved the top end of oil and the guides wore out. It would suck oil in on long downhill grades and leave a half mile of smoke screen once you gunned it on flatter ground until the oil in the cylinders burned off. I don't know how it didn't foul plugs. I drove that truck all over the place, including 6 hour one-way trips. Going down the road it didn't smoke, didn't smell of oil, just burned it like I mentioned. Don't overthink it, it was the valve guides being wore out.
