Traction Control Device Survey

I appologise if I posted in the wrong section, this is kind of a weird topic. I am a part of a team of students at Keller High School who are taking the Engineering Design and Development Course this year. In this course, we are designing and building a new traction control device. We are researching our target market in what they would use for traction control. Yea Project Lead the Way! Awesome classes, I loved them when I went through high school. I was the first one to complete the full set in my high school, and it was well worth it, I learned a lot! Just if you plan on being an actual engineer, forget the trig and learn calc, that was my only peeve with PLTW. They dont talk about the fact that college engineering programs focus almost entirely on calculus, not on trig. It burned me hard when I got into Aerospace Engineering... Survey done!

Done, on the 2x4 the traction control has saved my ass from being stuck in the mud many times... but on the 4x4 i don't like it all that much.

on my 2006 GMC i would throw 3 heavy brake drums (from a large truck) in the bed for weight and it would get around as well as any 4x4 in snow with the T/C and for my work i started with that truck (couldn't afford the expense of a good 4x4 at the time) and the T/C helped me through the soup and sticky mud from hell on the back roads

Fast forward to now i have the 2500 HD with Z71 and i now have a knob i turn from 2wd over to 4wd (no auto setting with it being the HD) but playing with it this week through some mud patches the T/C on the heavy truck doesn't make as much of an impact in 2 or 4HI.

Go back to what i learned to drive in the slick stuff with the 82 K10 .... it makes you learn throttle control to get out of a bind.

also there have been sticky situations where the T/C has not gotten me anywhere and i've had to turn it off to spin through the muck and the mire


My Final conclusion i love the T/C its a great safety feature even though if you want to leave black marks you will have to turn it off, next they will be adding launch control?

Something I should have done instead of pissing my life away at my current profession. Really wish I went down the road of an automotive tech.
