Towing weight?

Alright gents, I was roaming the internet when I read that a C30 can tow 12,000 pounds but a K30 can only tow 7,000. Am I understanding this right? 500ish pounds of 4 wheel drive gear eliminates 5,000 pounds of towing capability? What can I realistically tow with a 454, TH400, and 4.10 gears? And if this is in the wrong section my bad, point me to where I need to go. Thanks guys.

Beats me...unless they didnt have a transfer case back then that would handle that type of load.

I guess that makes sense. Seeing how that's the only thing between the transmission and axle that would change.

ive got an 85 k20, had a 350 eng, (now a 406) th400/208 14 bolt ff rear with 4.10's. Ive pulled my gooseneck several times with 12000 to 14000 lbs including the trailer with no problems, just wanna make sure the trailer brakes are working good!!

That sucks if it's true! I bought my K20 to work! My Titan can tow 7000..
