Gotta bone stock 350 and need more power.. edelbrock total power package or go the vortec head and cam rt

If it runs good already meaning no problems, Headers, and mufflers a small cam, dual plane intake and larger carb. Some of the 350's had 350 hp from the factory should be easy.

Yeah it runs fine other than carb needing floats adjusted(I'm hopefully assuming) I've got headers for it and will be getting 2.5 exhaust in a month or so...noob question time..will timing be an issue after installing a cam...i hate timing

Yeah it runs fine other than carb needing floats adjusted(I'm hopefully assuming) I've got headers for it and will be getting 2.5 exhaust in a month or so...noob question time..will timing be an issue after installing a cam...i hate timing

Can't do a cam without R&R the distributor.
Timing will be mandatory.

Degree your cam when installing. Timing will be easy then. If you can do that swap you can set the timing w/o any trouble. Lots of info online about how to degree a camshaft. Sounds hard if you haven't done it before but easy once you research it.

Cheap Vortec Heads are several hundred, and used will need to be gone through.

Also, Vortec Heads require a different intake manifold, as the mating angle between the manifold and heads is way off compared to standard heads and intakes. You will need different valve covers as well and all the other parts, like valve springs, as most Vortecs are sold "bare."

Cheap new Vortec's and intake will set you back, on the low end, more than $1,000-without valve covers and all the springs, etc. . . When you are all in on a cheap Vortec setup, $1,500+ is more likely. Then you said you want to re-cam. . . more $$$.

Vortec's can, when set up correctly, gain around 50HP; more with modifications and upgrades parts.

These types of "upgrades" are always more than a couple of bolt on parts. EVERYTHING needs to be mated together with parts to are designed to "work together" in harmony to create the best HP/Performance curves. These "assemblies" always require their own specific parts, which don't always work with the old school parts.

vortec heads, cam, springs, gaskets, manifold, fluids all cost me about 1k when I did my swap. The machine shop installed the wrong springs and they broke. I should have done a ls swap and been done with it.
