I entered an 1/8 mile class, but got one 1/4 mile pass. 15.46 at 86 and a 9.67 in the 1/8th. Best 60’ 2.09. It’s spins a lot. Lost first round. Had fun and nothing broke. The new trailer all worked out great.

Crazy how you used to see Beetles everywhere and now its rare. They were a collectible, a teens 1st car, off road baja racer, they could do everything.

I had a few of them. Most had 2180 Type 1's in them. I had hemi conversions, a 16v one, a turbo one, and one with a cut-down B&M 144. Made close to 200hp. I know I brought 1-2 to the track but I don't remember any times.

In HS, as long as I didn't have any major breakage, I could rebuild the motor in a week of autoshop class. I even kept a spare 8 dowel crank in my locker.

Basically a stock 1600 with a small cam. I did add dual springs and good pushrods. And it’s a Ko4 turbo, like you find on a new Beetle, blowing into a 40 dellororto. 11 pounds of boost.
