I'm looking into putting a set of digital gauges in the 73. I already have the stock gauges worked out and ready to install, BUT, my granddaughter wants a set of digital gauges. I've been working on using a 2001 gauge cluster, just not worked out the mounting. SO, if I use the digital gauges that will fit in the original cluster housing, do I cut the connector off the stock wire harness and use what is already there or run new wires to everything and leave the stock connector in tacked?

Please elaborate...... :hat:

I have an 01 gauge cluster, wires figured out where they go, and I have a pattern made to cut the bezel. Just haven't figured out the plastic lens piece. The 01 lens cover sticks out at the bottom, which I just don't like the looks of it that way.

If I center the gauges, it will end up in the heater controls area. Just need a something to replace the front cluster clear cover. Also, the 01 gauge cluster is straight and the 73-87 cluster bezel is curved.

Also, this would be for the LS Swap I'm doing.

Do you like the look of that cluster over the original ones?
You do know a 90 - 91 cluster from a suburban or blazer has the digital speedo a ls swap needs.

You’re asking a lot..so… if I understand, digital gauges are goi g into 01, 01 cluster to truck because a pre 02 ls PCM is already there.

the cluster would likely have more less need for the original wiring because they prob… actually idk. So to fit it in the square, you want to remove that bevel shape? Custom cut of lens probably. 0?

I'm as interested in it fitting as I am the newer stuff even working.

I keep looking at it, but just haven't been able to see how to make it work.

JuT get a digital dash(intellitronix?) for a square, use the original sending units and ranges, and anything your ls needs the cluster for from the 2001, like CEL and stuff mount it elsewhere hidden or find a 2001 truck interface that can make it smaller like a phone app hookup etc
